Lack of dub aside, my first major complaint with the series is that at times it seems there is almost no foreshadowing up to the reveal where our heroes explain the solution to the situation. Yes, I know there are subtle hints here and there, but for a series that's pretty much Law & Order with spies, there's gonna need to be more foreshadowing to keep the viewer invested in each story. It was pretty much just law back and let the characters figure it out for you, instead of figuring it out with the characters. During the first half of the series, that is; the second half was a significant improvement and added in very subtle hints of foreshadowing - this series gives the viewer alot of credit so you need to be paying attention - but I felt like I was figuring out the plot with the characters then.

My second major complaint is - like the Imitation Game - the series doesn't really teach you anything about spies, despite the entire series being about spies.


Colonel Wolff has an awesome design, congrats to the character designer. From the moment he appeared, I went O.O

Miyoshi was my favorite spy, a shame that he went out anticlimactically like he did (though I appreciate it's simplicity). [I]*tears*[/I]

Interesting how Yuuki becomes the most developed and intriguing character of the series, even though we never got to follow him around or actually learn anything about him. He's a character who ended up getting the most screen time through the viewpoints of other characters (as again, we never got to follow him around for an episode). Gave an air of mystery around him, whilst hyping up his badassness.

I hope there's more to come!

Interesting Clannad/Clannad:AS AMV (spoilers):

It is a different type of AMV, the one that writes a different story than the anime. I don't usually like these (with some exceptions), but this particular AMV executed the premise well. Now, I don't know how much of this material is drawn from the game or the alternate universe episodes, neither of which I have seen, but the idea is one that I had myself toward the end of After Story. In the aftermath of Nagisa's death when Tomoya begins to meet Kyou as his daughter's teacher I thought it would have been very compelling if the series had ended with a growing romance between the two. This would of course involve overcoming the memory of Nagisa, which would be the last step in him finally letting her go. Frankly I think an ending like this would have been FAR more satisfying than the cop-out we got instead.

While the AMV uses Tomoyo in place of Kyou for this story, it has the same aspects that I thought would have made such an arc compelling. Again, as I have not seen any material aside from the main story I don't know how much of this is drawn from those. My overall appreciation is also helped by the fact that Tomoyo was my girl of choice as well...

I think the primary weakness of this AMV is that at one point it uses footage of Kyou and tries to pass it off as Tomoyo, which caused a lot of confusion for me because I thought that we suddenly had another character in the story the AMV was trying to tell. But it's just a limitation of the editing.

A number of Key anime do some variation of cop-out ending, it's annoying because the various stories would be stronger without it.

For her personality. (Clannad) She was a character who actually had some background and depth. She nearly lost her brother and through this realized that her previously uncaring and delinquent manner was costing her dearly. Her current status as upstanding student holds more weight because it is something she has consciously chosen rather than simply being, "a nice girl."

I liked Tomoyo and Kyou, but Tomoyo was definitely my favorite too.
