I still don't get what people hate about CG? Like if it's done well it's good, otherwise no: just like anything else. Like jumanji has god damn good CG from YEARS ago that still holds up well to this date.

It's not that people don't like CG, it's that people don't like CG that doesn't composite well with the rest of the show.

Gundam Unicorn is a case example of excellent CG, as the Unicorn CG and composited very well with the rest of the show.

Aldnoah has pretty good CG but it could've been composited better. The effect works to the show's advantage, since the CG adds to the otherworldly nature of the Martian Kataphrakts.

Ufotable employs intensive use of CG for their backgrounds (Ufotable doesn't have experienced 2D background animators, see The Canipa Effect's video on that) and FX to great effect, though they do occasionally run into compositing problems (such as the dragons in Zestiria).

Wait, oh, CG in live action? Because only now are we reaching the point where CG on high definition film is starting to look flawlessly convincing, see Mad Max: Fury Road (where the intensive use of CGI was so good, absolutely nobody noticed!) and Life of Pi. In a (comparatively) lower budget production like an FMA adaptation, the CG isn't going to look as good, but going by the teaser it might hold up just good enough.

They should just do BTTH in the same way as Thunderbolt Fantasy, tbh.

I'd much prefer to see it hand-drawn like the usual kind of anime/animation, 'cos I think it could look amazing. But I have zero issues with the CG that Tencent tend to have used. Even the little trailer it had was ok for me. As long as it's done well, in addition to music and voice work and so on, I'm down for it.

Yeah that trailer looked great to me, if not a bit choppy but I bet that's due to the site/player/my interwebs

I don't remember if this is the right vid (can't rewatch, at work) but if I remember correctly this explained it well. It's just that most anime studios don't know how to do it well

That's when I plan on going, but I've been planning it already for a couple years now (and then do my masters there after), and it's what helped me decide my path in university too. It'd be cool to see people I know there though, so you should.
