Zero kara hajimeru: This ending was beyond retarded really. They erased magic and suddenly everyone just stops fighting because reasons, the witch hunts end because reasons, all of the withces are forgiven because reasons, the witches accept the situation because reasons, fucking Albus is made the head of the sorcerers of the state because reasons. Wasn't she basically pretty shit at magic anyways? All of her magic was literally just magic from Grimoire of Zero that got denied and was flawed in the first place.

For now, yes. She's part of the launch celebration. Not entirely sure when the celebration ends.

That said, there is also an event dedicated to Saber Lily later on where you can get multiple copies of her (for free) anyway.

The ending was irritating because they literally just told you to read the source material and had a confusing flashback right at the end for no reason. Considering the rest of this show, it was an insulting last episode.

Finished SukaSuka myself. Definitely one of those 5-5.5/10s.

This series isn't worth a full review for me, but the short version is that it was a composite of multiple ideas, none of which got sufficient exposure.

1) The whole destruction of the world being the fault of mankind, the origins of the monsters...it had no impact. It doesn't seed the mystery of the origins, like Attack on Titan's central questions do. It generates no indignation because the guys who might partially be responsible for it (Gandalf the White and Paraplegic Skull) don't get more than 10 minutes of combined screentime. Indications of anti-human sentiment are never effectively pursued; it's the same old, "Oh I have a grudge against you // You did something nice // Maybe humans aren't all evil!" It creates no functional moral quandaries that the monsters are "actually" people (what does that even mean, anyway?); we just get a few horror looks from Willem...as he continues to jutsu-punch them to death anyway. Truthfully, any post-apocalyptic scenario with monsters would have done.

2) Willem's disillusionment. At its base, I like the idea of Willem's character. He woke up several centuries later to find out that everybody he cared about is gone (except Gandalf), and that all his heroics did not prevent Armageddon on the surface. He might not feel personally guilty for everything that happened, but he can't help but reflect on how he is part of the generation that let it fail, and has fallen into a deep lethargy. But again this suffers from incomplete exposure. We are hardly introduced to him before being led into the Scarborough Fair tour with Chtholly, where he begins to perk up and be a nice guy. After that, he recovers in the simple joy of caring for the child faeries. But without proper exposure to the state he is recovering from, it lacks a punch.

3) Faerie weapons. We need a reason to feel intense pity for adorable children who are otherwise being treated quite well and thus it is provided. There is not even any subtlety to it, no slow dawning of realization what they were for. From moment one, we were notified this was a weapons warehouse, and any veteran of anime knows that cute little girls are the most dangerous thing in all of creation.

4) Chtholly's degredation. Again, could have been a compelling narrative of how her existence is intrinsically linked to a timer that is always ticking, similar to how Claymore handled it (before it also went to shambles). An ephemeral quality to her twinkling character that gives the happiness she experiences a bittersweet tinge. The scenes inside her mind/elsewhere as she fell apart, along with the phrase-visions were well-executed. Here the problem lies with the fact that Chtholly has no existence outside of this arc. She's not a beloved character that succumbs to this inevitable fate. She's a plot device with blue hair, it being made obvious early on in both the story and OP that she was Ms. Inevitably Tragic.
I was actually more saddened by Neph's death than hers, if simply due to the unexpectedness of it.

As for the last episode in particular, I thought it was fine. I had no particular objections to it compared to the rest of the story it fit into. Even if it was a dangling thread, it did basically what I thought the last episode needed to, with its call back to the first scene that got everybody hooked in the first place.

SukaSuka: I'll settle with a 6/10. I really enjoyed the first few episodes. Over time, the pacing felt rushed and a lot of background story wasn't transparent at all. At the very least, I found Willem and Chtholly's story cute and partially memorable. It needed to be fleshed out more, meaning Willem's past and how other interactions and situations made him who he is as we experienced in the anime. Already reading the LN!

I think Sukasuka is alright but it really needed some more episodes. also felt like it was being too melodramatic? not sure if that's the right word. I'd rate it a bit higher than everyone else has. The LN is only 5 volumes so that might be worth picking up for the full story

Why would I bother with the anime if it's as obvious of an advert as it apparently is? I will probably read the LN at some point since the premise sounded fun. Similarly with Zero - only I was reading it long before I heard of the anime, and that one sounds much worse: the dreaded anime original bullshit.

For SukaSuka, I'm going with 7.5 - it answered enough for me, but definitely a bit disappointed as it had such a strong start / world. The OST is fantastic though. I did laugh at that umm parenting at the end Not sure I was happy with any ending of this season's anime - the interesting ones are two cour.
