Moving to Saudi Arabia

Hello MMO-champion! This is my first post, yay
I have been lurking in these forums for a long while already but never posted anything or even made an account before.

Seeing the other thread about moving to Japan, I decided to make my own one too since I will probably be moving to Saudi Arabia next year with my husband who got a job offer there, and would really like to hear about peoples experiences of living there, if anyone has any. I am naturally quite excited and nervous about this upcoming part of my life!

Here are some things I would like to know. Some of these may seem quite basic, but when I tried to google them, found contradicting answers:
1) I know I will have to wear an abaya, but will I have to cover my hair as well?
2) Can I go out without male escort?
3) Since I am Jewish, will I face any problems entering the country? How bad is the anti-semitism?
4) What are some good ways to spend time? What do expats do there to have fun?
5) I've heard the locals are rude towards foreigners, is this true? After hearing about those terrorist attacks to western communities, I am seriously concerned about my safety as well.

Considering until last yeah jews weren't even legally allowed to have jobs in saudi arabia, yeah they don';t take too kindly to your types around there. And I hope neither of you are ever hoping to go to church/synagogue ever again because only islamic places of worship are legal there.

Saudi Arabia is a horrible place. And that's coming from a man! It's a place where education basically consists of hardcore and radical Islamic teachings, so you being Jewish and woman will basically get society to shun you automatically. The definition of fun for a woman there is probably just playing chess with yourself.

If your husband is moving to Saudi Arabia because of a job, chances are he's completely clueless or he just doesn't give a shit about you more than his career.

depends on the city you are going, for example jeddah, they dont wear abaya, jeans and stuff, but other areas sometimes yes, sometimes no, as far as i know they started to not say anything about that, but you better cover your hair and scout the area first i.e see if other saudi women cover or not

i think you can, women go alone with drivers, drivers are not considered male escort

nope, infact you will find them very friendly and helpful, dont trust the media, i went there, they are infact better than 90% of european countries regarding foreigners help

Hate to say t, but life for you is about to change drastically. I also wouldnt tell anyone you are an atheist over there either, its worse than being jewish. As a small piece of advice from someone who has spent a small amount of time there throughout the years, get a prayer schedule and learn it. Everything runs on the prayer schedule.
