Survival hunters converted into melee!

Watched Gamescon panel and they showed a Polearm and said it was for Survival hunters.

Melee hunter is back bois PogChamp.

The new expansion has been announced. It turns out Surv gets a spear as their artifact weapon.

Are they becoming melee?

Could be a throwable spear though, would be a massive change if they just revamped the entire survival hunter spec for melee only when you have this weapon.

It may just be a option, as in survival can choose between ranged and melee, but seems to be the case.

Well what I have gathered so far, every class/spec will have a different weapon that they have through the entire expansion(kind of like our current ring). So if SV's weapon is a Polearm, it's pretty much a straight message that tells they will convert SV into melee.

This also is sort of supported by the recent actions Blizz has had against SV, like nerfing it beyond useless and not buffing it.

I hate it. I hate it a lot. But I guess it isn't the end of the world so long as the other two specs continue to use ranged weapons.

Could still be ranged. Throwing spears are a thing :P Even in Wow, we just can't use em.

I wonder what the Beast Mastery artifact will be. I doubt a simple ranged weapon fits the theme enough. I hope something tied to pets.

Definitely less appealing to me knowing that. Ranged are typically more sought after.

I was wondering the same thing... He goes survival hunter and I'm all "whaaaat." I'm very confused lol. I could see spear throwing being a thing though. Would be kind of cool imo... Guess we have to wait and see.

I'm really hoping the BM artifcact is something pet related. I've been BM since like 2007.. I don't want to change just to get the coolest artifact xD. I'm wondering if survival will use throwing spears. that'd be really cool imo

Enhancement Shamans and DKs have multiple ranged abilities and attacks, yet they are melee DPS. What's your point?
