How much gold do you think the average WoW player has?

I was just thinking, with all the inflation over the years how much gold the average player has

  2. #2
My guess would be between 50k and 100k.

average? over 100k, for all the poor people out there, there's people like me with 5mill, so 50 of us is still over 100k.

that and garrisons, people who have had very little gold in wow are easily 6 figures from all those treasure hunter missions.

Blizzard confirmed this not too long ago. The Average player stuggles to keep 10k gold. This may have changed with WoD, though I don't expect it changed too much.

Better question would be what the average MMOC-player has, because the NA / EU average is going to be below 25k. Asian averages are probably a lot (factor 5-10) higher (judging by the goldprice on tokens).

I'd also like to know if players have similar money using habits in game and in real life.

I've never done any serious AH business nor min-maxed my treasure hunter followers etc. but managed to get over million gold in game because i almost never buy anything. I have low pay job (in my country) but happen to have semi fat bank account because as no-lifer i rarely spend any money. I could imagine that someone who spends all his gold to gear/carries/pets/mounts/whatever, will be often broke IRL because spending in all kind of crap.

People don't seem to realize that the average player isn't even in a guild.

Do anyone that keeps asking this question not play the game?
Yes their are a few uber rich but most struggle to get to 10k.
Some in my guild were so happy to hit 20k to 30k this expansion but most are poor.
It takes work to get gold in this game and most don't find the work it takes as "fun"
And don't say garrisons made making easy.
It does/did if one has multiple level 3 garrisons with max geared treasure hunter followers.
That took/takes time to do and most dislike the garrisons or leveling the alts to do it.
Nevermind until garrison is maxed out it is a gold sink which stopped some from doing it.

im at 1.5mil from doing professions and garrisions alone, so i consider myself the lazy type of goldfarmer, spending about an hour a day on garrision realted activites for gold gains. Im earning about 25k a week on average.
But if one were to go out in the world and actaully farm, i suspect you could get over 10 million in a few months time. Farming the Tanan rares, all the other rares that drops pets, farming xmog items, farming old raids, do the barn on multiple chars and ofc the most lucrative of them all, playing the AH.

My guess is the average lvl 90 player has about 100k gold.

I'm currently at a bit under 600k, and that's just from playing normally really. Just Garrison missions and selling stuff I find.

I'm not sure how people can have so little gold, considering I haven't really done anything to get mine other than just slowly accumulating it. I've even spent 100k on crafted gear this patch, and 200k on mounts at the start of this expansion.

That would heavily defeat the purpose of Blizz demanding that we maintain the social aspect of the MMORPG Genre.

OT: I don't understand how people would struggle to keep above 10k, when you can farm Cata raids and make a tidy amount in just a couple hours/week.

I can't imagine this didn't change with wod. I most had 50k gold at one time ever pre-wod and I've earned hundreds of thousands just from sending out garrison missions once or twice a day.
..and so he left, with terrible power in shaking hands.

how does ANYONE with a garrison have less than 100k?

  16. #16
My guess is that the average player has between 5-20k.

  17. #17
have always struggled for gold in the game until about 3 months ago when i quit raiding (not that raiding costs too much gold etc, but i was purely raiding and doing no other form of farming so no income, only outgoings mainly). now i only play the game to do garrisons and shipyard stuff as well as kazzak kills each week for felblight. gone from 150k to 800k in 3 months. have 5x 100s

I bet most players just cba to even think about their gold pile. There's different levels of laziness. Some people just prefer yelling 30 minutes in trade chat for portal when they could just take tram from SW to IF.

the player on average most likely has over 100k indeed.

but the average player struggles with much less. the average player probably doesn't play the ah or has 10 chars on garrison duty. and the garrison is the only reason i have a reasonable amount of gold for the first time in 10 years. but only because i like lvling alts ... not because i put effort in it.
