From looking at Assassination rogues in end game WoD gear, i'd argue the spec needs slowing down more. From watching the spec, there's no time to make any decisions at all, and you're almost GCD capped. That's not how it should be for an energy spec, especially Assassination. Hopefully it never gets to that point at Legion end game.
For as much as I love assassination, I'm kinda disliking it in beta right now. I hardly have enough energy to even get my bleeds out. I open with cs into a hero into a rupture and I'm out of energy before I can garrote. Then it's all down hill from there.
What is the "rotation" in pvp that everyone is using?
Edit: it's also annoying me that a spec revolved around poisons is more bleed oriented...

WHY ? it played great... you had something to push. Now its again "oh i got to wait for 30energy better go and make me something to eat when i come back im sure im already hat 15...."
sub is also super boring shit now and outlaw?.. oh i wished they would have just added a 4th spec instead of destroying the only Spec i enjoyed
The problem is that when an Energy spec gets close to GCD capped, especially outside of cooldowns, it means both your resource and proper resource management are made near irrelevant. There's a balance to be had between making Energy regeneration fast enough to have compelling gameplay but slow enough to make managing it and your decision making to be more important.
Because it's the whole point of the spec, and energy as a resource.. What's the point in having a useless resource? Energy pooling is one thing in the game that can set players apart somewhat. With Elaborate planning in Legion, people who pool energy before a finisher can reap the rewards after by spamming Mutilate for the 20% damage boost, for example.. which is similar to how it plays now if i'm correct. There's other things to do also. It's methodical. There aren't many methodical specs out there, so i hope Assassination stays one.
If you're spamming shit, there's no reason to have energy or combo points, and it's incredibly uninteresting.

You must be joking. I tried Assasi on PTR with an ilvl 680 character and a measly 17% crit or something like that, and capping on combo points is INCREDIBLY easy. It's easy to weave your other finishers in between Ruptures. And you're talking to someone who played Feral, the slowest spec in the whole game (excluding 4pc T18)
Like the poster above me said... What are you doing wrong? Are you seriously telling me that your Rupture is dropping off before you can reach your next finisher? So it takes you 24 seconds to get back up to maximum combo points?
I literally, after doing a Rupture, hit mutilate and went straight back to 3 CP. Hit mutilate again, back at max. Did a finisher.

So a 20 sec debuff, a 24 sec bleed (should be 28s, you should have deeper stratagem) and a 15 sec bleed are too much for you to manage? What's CS btw? Cheap Shot? Why use that? Take Venom Rush; it's excellent particularly at lower gear levels. Don't take DFA; I always found the animation actually cost DPS and made positioning more awkward.

Since I'm on a phone it's harder to address direct quotes so to everyone that has quoted me let me just say this which I should have cleared up from the start so my apologies. I'm talking from a pvp standpoint. I think you guys are referring to pve? Correct me if I'm wrong. If you are talking from a pvp standpoint, how are you doing your rotations?

you dont rotate in PvP, you only spin in circles.
I know there's no set "rotation" and things are situational. Been playing this game a long time. But it takes time to figure out a reworked specs and see what works and what doesnt.

Even better if you Vanish before doing Rupture. That means it ticks 50% harder for the duration. Assuming you took Nightstalker, which you should have for this very benefit. Works even better if you can fully stack agonizing on the target. Wait till we get artifact traits like the one that makes Rupture do double damage for 10 sec, if that triggers you're laughing. A double damage stealthed rupture with a 400% speed boost. On PTR with HFC gear you can already make a Rupture tick (non crit) for over 60k. If the artifact were hypothetically available now and it triggered 'blood of the assassinated' you'd be talking 120k ticks. At 0.2/s you're talking a 600k DPS Rupture - NOT including crits - by stacking all the damage enhancing effects at once.
(Only using level 100 numbers as a point of example. We'll be hitting harder in legion, but the AP scaling is what it is, and that's what I'm going by)
