    [Movies] Hardcore Henry

Looks amazing! As a hardcore first person shooter fan, I can't wait to see this! I'm blown away about the fact that it slipped through the cracks and I knew nothing about it until I saw this trailer. I've been checking what movies Sharlto Copley is going to be in, and this is the first time I'm hearing about this movie. But it looks fantastic.

Looks absolutely ridiculous, over the top and stupid. Should be a fun watch.

Please tell me this is a joke. I couldn't even make it through the trailer, once they showed "Henry" interacting with someone while having his hands outstretched I decided I had enough. I think I'd get a better experience watching my friends actually play an FPS.

Yeah, that sums up my general feeling as well. I watched to the end of the trailer, and it most definitely did NOT make me want to see the movie.

Some people aren't hardcore FPS fans.

I dont judge a movie based off of their MPAA rating, but the anticipation for this one is intriguing to say the least:
"Rated R for non-stop bloody brutal violence and mayhem, language throughout, sexual content/nudity and drug use"

This looks kinda awesome. I wonder if it will play well with mainstream audiences and if the lower budget will prove the film unsuccessful.

    Worked fine for Deadpool.

I just don't know... I concept is great, but I can't help but think it'll suffer from "Mirror's Edge Syndrome"...

Glorified FPS movie...might be a fun watch. But, lets face it, the low budget is to guarantee a pay off.
If there's an actual script (more than we've seen/heard) it might be worth it.

Deadpool had known license and great marketing campaign.

It looks like it could be good but I'm skeptical of the first person camera angle.

Doesn't really make any difference to us, the audience, whether it's "unsuccessful" or not. All that matters whether it's enjoyable, and whether people go watch it or not has no bearing on that, as long as we do. Having said that, I guess there are a lot of people who let other people live their lives, as in, they ask other people whether a movie is worth watching, and then watch or don't watch based on that, so I suppose whether people go see it and like it will affect someone's life.

People keep bringing FPS up as if it's a bad thing... I'm guessing it's because people are so young that they didn't grow up in the golden age of FPS, and have gotten used to these 3rd person shooter monstrosities.

Also, the brand new Sacha Baron Cohen film, The Brothers Grimsby, also has at least one scene that utilizes FPS to great extent. Whether they ripped off this movie, or this movie ripped off that one, or whether there's just this weird magic in Hollywood that causes similar themes to emerge simultaneously, who knows.

However, here is some of the FPS scene in The Brothers Grimsby:

Clearly more people than just the ones making Hardcore Henry think FPS is cool.

Because it's all "shaky cam" stuff that a lot of people despise..
Still I won't judge it until I see it. If I do.

Comparing it to a flop doesn't bode well.

Let's also not forget the only semi-redeeming moment in the entire DOOM movie:

Also I'm not sure why you're required to be a FPS fan to enjoy this. The stunt work looks pretty incredible, the fight scenes are inventive, the highway scene looks great, etc. Sure, their special effects budget may have been low, but they've clearly put a lot of thought into the style and presentation of it all.

Rather than just being a potential shaky-cam effort as well, it instead has many solidly shot scenes and very clear interactions going on. It doesn't feel hyperactive visually and instead gives a very clear and defined sense of what's going on in each action sequence.

Besides, it's already proving a big hit with the critics - 93% so far, on Rottentomatoes.com.

    Also, new trailer:

Doom had a First person shooter segment in it as well.
