Stocking up salvage crates for Transmog

So in Legion we know that transmog wardrobe is account-wide. So what I've been planning is stocking up salvage crates then opening them after the patch, equipping them, vendoring, mailing appropriate armor type to other alts. Since holding all that armor would take a lot more bag space than the crates themselves.

Anyone else also doing this? I'm assuming they aren't nerfing salvage crates in 7.0.

I've been saving crates on 2 two toons and have like 100 on another. Just wasted bag space, but I figure I can fill out the wardrobe a lot faster this way.

That's pretty smart, I hadn't thought of that! Will be saving them up from now on

I've been doing the same as well. I doubt they'll nerf them more than they already have tho so I'm not too worried about that.

I've also been doing this also, I've got about 3000 (account wide) so far so I'll be really busy come patch day.

    Stealth Nerf incoming, be prepared.

I have over 3k crates atm. And I think I should open them, sell followers upgrade (since they will probably get gold value nerf in legion), materials and non transmog items (rings and shit), and everything useful pack 12 in mail and send it to the char that can use it, and just resend it every 60 days.

How do you even bother stocking up 3k when they stack at 20? Waste of space I say.

I also suspect/speculate the crates will get a stealth nerf, containing only trash. I'd open them now and vendor most stuff, keep the items i want for mog on mail, like suggested previously, and shard the class specific armor now except a full set.

You can always stockpile them hoping for it to work as you expect and pay attention to the patch notes. If they will get a nerf it will be pretty widely known before hand and you can just open the crates ahead of the patch. Win Win.

Considering they haven't changed their stance about people can unlock their own type of armor, i'd say this is useless.

More than 4,000 crates in. Going to be fun opening them all.

You can mail armour around to other classes that can unlock it if you're on a toon that won't.
    Main toon: Priest
Alts: Rogue, Druid and Paladin plus many, many more.

I have a macro that does the same thing virtually. Just bind it to the mouse wheel and spam.

I've been opening and saving the blues that appear. I'm too worried for a nerf when Legion launches. Worst case scenario I'll just park a toon in the garrison after leveling for awhile.

I've been opening them and sending the good looking transmog items to the characters that can equip them and stuffing them in the bank. I'm not fussed about unlocking heaps of appearances (Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm green BoEs look absolutely grotesque) UNLESS they bring in achievements associated with them, like the heirloom collections.
That way on patch day I can go to my bank, equip them all and sell them rather than having to duck between toons everytime I open more boxes.
Just means I have had to buy a few bags since some of my characters had like, 20 slot banks >.<
Mount Count: 378. Newest addition: Arcadian War Derple
Pet Count: 859 (678 at Max Level)

Been storing them, but am inclined to just open them before they stealth nerf the contents. Got burned when they secretly removed the vendor value from MoP BoA rep tokens. I still have a few character slots on the realm I'm connected to. Unlocking all the slots in the bank as well as reasonably sized bags should give me some leeway for storage. Might even resort everything so I'll have armor type sorted out.

Not a bad idea, especially since I'm not opening them right now anyway because I'm way too lazy to take 10 steps to the yard and click on things.
