Practically no-one cares about religion in Finland. It's just tradition to be registered to church, and most can't be bothered signing out, even tho it takes minutes on online form.

I know correlation does not equal causation, but some correlations are more likely to be part of the causation than others.

Why do European countries score so highly on a European site?

I thought these studies were partially debunked because of differing cultural perceptions on what "happiness" entails?

So you're saying European countries are the best.

Just wait until you get more diversity. Take a look at Brazil.

And how, pray tell, is this measured?

I live in Denmark. Our government is often cited as being super duper nice, but honestly I'm just not seeing that, and that's despite the fact that I am currently performing a contract for the government in my day job that involves creating a registry of all buildings in the country.

There is an unbelieveable amount of corruption and our welfare system is full of holes in all sorts of places you don't find them. Sure, we don't have a great deal of homeless people, and those we have chose it themselves because they, like I, do not equate happiness with wealth.

I am saying that capitalism breeds discontent.

It's checked with a whole bunch of surveys. The rankings are how people from those countries feel about things, on average.

That's a pretty dumb conclusion given that literally ALL of the countries on the list are capitalist. Sure, they have elements of socialism, but only to the extent that people get an equal start in life and aren't left to die if they get ill. However, in Denmark an engineer will earn 3x as much as a social worker. Sounds like good old fashioned capitalism to me.

These countries do have one thing in common, however: There are MANY parties in their parliaments. They all have pretty good voting system, and they are all governed by the rule of law.

So? We have a mixed economy.

If you have thought up a new type of economic system we could implement, I would love to hear about it.

Great, non-empirical measurements, averages, averages on those averages, and then a comparison between different cultures to the extent that they might not even agree what happiness means or when you should be satisfied.

Just the usual junk social science, then.
