    Is Taxation Theft?

Many on the fringe of the libertarian movement in the US hold this view of taxation, inherently being theft. What is your opinion on it? Personally I see it as a cost of living within a boundary.

living in a country without paying taxes is theft. you're using services without paying and choosing to stay and keep doing it.

Yeah. Is driving your car on a roadway that other taxpayers paid for, thus contributing to the wear-and-tear without paying taxes vandalism?

To me taxation is theft when that money is being spent on things other than what the constitution explicitly allows.

Things that are okay uses of tax dollars: Emergency services, the military, the justice system, public buildings

Things that are not okay uses of tax dollars: wealth redistribution, infrastructure, regulation of businesses, non-constitutional agencies

It's theft if you get nothing from it. At least in Canada, I get roads, police, healthcare and probably a bunch of other things I can't think of right now. So no, it's not theft.

those people are retards, if they don't want to pay tax, say so when you're born, so you can use nothing in your country, don't use anything no need to pay tax!

This is also widely held by not only the libertarian wing of the republican party, but also among the mainstream conservative braintrust, with the most extreme, yet popular among conservatives, the sovereign citizen movement.

Taxing that exceeds common sense is. For example a Norwegian friend told me that they tax inheritance. Like your dad just died so the state takes a percent of what he owned... Just awful imo.

Edit: Nevermind, i was talking from my ass. "The inheritance tax in Norway was abolished in 2014."

What if a person does not use those services? For example, I am taxed for Medicaid, I don't use medicaid. I am taxed to fund planned parenthood, I don't use those things. Additionally, spending outpaces receipts. Meaning everyone technically uses things they are not paying for.

Taxation is a form of theft. More importantly, taxation is a reduction in liberty and freedom. Someone else is telling you they can spend your money better than you can. Which almost never turns out to be true.

On the same token though, I would consider taxation without representation theft. My tax dollars should go towards public spending projects that are things that benefit me, either directly, or indirectly through the improvement of society, that are beyond the spending scope of members of society.

So taxing me to give college scholarships to under privileged youths... It does benefit me indirectly because if they are in college they are less likely to jack with my shit.

Taxing me, to build a traffic light for Walmart at the entrance of the Walmart parking lot because Walmart...that's theft. Because Walmart can afford their own fucking traffic light.

By then it's probably too late, since no doubt your mother will have had health checks on you.

Would you believe that public funds into infrastructure and regulation have have incredible above market ROIs?

Well said. I have read mmo for a long time and seen the things people post about political topics like this. Almost no one will comprehend the magnitude of what you just posted.

Not this horseshit again. The only wealth redistribution that is going on the US is from rich to poor.
