Once and for all! It's called ALPHA because...

they want to feel free to CHANGE everything that comes in their mind or they get from us through feedback!

    Ain't that superclear?

Alpha means changing basic mechanics. Beta meens tweaking "not-to-be-changed"-things.

They just want to take the safer track bc in wod Beta ppl gave feedback but it was too late! Decisions were made!

It is called ALPHA, however it IS Beta.

If I call my dog Felix - it doesn't become a cat.

Challenge Mode : Play WoW like my disability has me play:
You will need two people, Brian MUST use the mouse for movement/looking and John MUST use the keyboard for casting, attacking, healing etc.
Briand and John share the same goal, same intentions - but they can't talk to each other, however they can react to each other's in game activities.
Now see how far Brian and John get in WoW.

They have changed major mechanics when the game was live aswell.

But does it matter what they call it ?
If its alpha for 2 months and beta for 4 months or alpha for 4 and beta for 2. Its still the same amount of time. The game is coming out by september. Just sit back and wait.

Does matter what it is - which is Beta. That's because from a programming perspective it means a certain stage etc.

Beta - is final test of FEATURE COMPLETE product, performed by it's END USERS, in order to make it ready for release. Beta - is when you only need to find hidden bugs, test compatibility and perform stress test of FINAL PRODUCT. Product, that has the same functionality, it will have, when it will be released. It's not Legion, that is wrongfully called Alpha instead of Beta - it's all previous xpacks, that were wrongfully called Betas, when they actually were Alphas. Even if developer opens his product to be tested by end users, if he doesn't have anything beside concepts and drafts - it's not Beta, sorry. When previous Betas started, all we had - is terrain of locations, lol. Is Legion feature complete? No. Do we have Beta invites, waves, keys, weekends, etc. for ordinal players? No. Current state of Legion - is F&F Alpha ("Open Alpha"). Period.

    I don't care about Wow 11.0, if it's not solo-MMO. No half-measures - just perfect xpack.

Exactly - a programming term. Reaching that state some several weeks ago.

All sorted, good to see you are in agreement.

Yeah, just finished Suramar with my world drop legendaries. Was pretty cool.

    Lol, sure.
I completely understand the concerns. What you're currently seeing in Alpha are bits and pieces of a system that is still coming together, untuned and often even inconsistent between classes, without additional context. And as a result, there's also a fair bit of misinformation floating around (for example, the cap on active champions/followers is 6, not 20). We haven't published a full explanation of the system, because we're still working out a few of the details - that's the nature of Alpha. And of course in the absence of information, seeing an interface that looks a lot like a reskinned version of what you're used to in Draenor garrisons (followers -> champions, garrison resources -> order resources, etc.), it's easy to assume that this is just a continuation of the old system.

    I don't care about Wow 11.0, if it's not solo-MMO. No half-measures - just perfect xpack.

Several weeks? We just got World Quests? From the front page of MMO-C (2016-04-16 12:10 PM):

"Blizzard gave some additional clarifications today about world quest availability, as well as the original design notes. Please keep in mind we have only had a few days to test it, so the following information could be incomplete or incorrect:"
Not enough content? Change you dislike?
Unsub or sub later. Give Blizzard feedback, "vote" with money.
Give feedback through official channels → quit paying.

Just lol. The amount of bugs and client stability issues very much makes it alpha. Lots of stuff that aren't implemented, big changes being made, and only a few days since the first version of destruction locks got testable.
Perhaps it is *soon* ready to be labeled beta, but take it from a alpha tester, that it IS STILL ALPHA.
We still got lots of placeholder models, and still need a large amount of campaign quests. But yes, beta is getting closer, but it would be unfair to claim it already is beta.

Doesn't matter what you people call it. Blizzard says it's alpha so it's alpha. Going from beta to beta would be confusing and stupid wouldn't it?

That's not entirely true that its F&F alpha I have receivied an invite to the legion "Alpha/Beta" what ever you want to call it and I am by no means F&F. They are in fact inviting ordinary players and I can prove it if need be.

When I was invited to MOP "Beta", it was completely unplayable due to client crashes every minute.

Yeah, I know, that some F2P games can be marked as "Beta" for years. Firefall for example was in Beta state for several years. Some F2P games are incomplete even after their release. MWO for example. But this is the nature of the games, that need to earn money even before their release - in order to actually develop game. But Wow is paid game. When access to it is given to players - is should be feature complete and experience should be the same, as on release day.

Blizzard simply have more friends this time. Actually it happened in the past too. The only difference - they don't have NDA this time.

Regardless of what it is officially being called, anyone who believes the current state of Legion makes is too early/incomplete to be considered a "beta" must also agree that pretty much every other expansion "beta" was in fact an alpha for a large portion of its actual "beta" period. No expansion beta has ever been feature complete or light on bugs until pretty close to launch.
