How PlayStation 4 Won the War - Colin Was Right

Watch the video before commenting, This isn't a console bashing or console war thread.

It has some points that fans of gaming need to know.

Not looking for a dick waving contest in this thread.

Sony won as soon as they had nier and persona 5 on it. I'm really happy since while it won't have as much good stuff as the ps2, it can at least come close. I really want some semi experimental 3rd person action games like mark of kri and ratchet and clank, and modest budget jrps like radiata stories. The humble simplicity of those games were fun because I'm tired of BIG ACTION TRIPLE AAA PRE ORDER NOW!

I'm not sure why people even like the xbox. Playstation wins just on the back of their exclusives alone (and always has).

I prefer Xbox's UI and user experience.

Not watching Colin Retardiarty's video, but here's a scene from a recent AAA title. Look at those crisp animations. The convincing voice acting...wow.
    Working on my next ban.

You prefer adds everywhere with stupid tiles? I don't know what you mean by user experience because they both do the same thing.

Yes, horizon is a blight on man, but there are plenty of other good games that ps4 has. I mean I sold my xbone because xbone has 2 exclusives. I keep getting the urge to rebuy one, but I mean lol

Also never mind halo wars because that is on pc too.

The only one winning in the console war is the man who has the brains, money and time to get all machines available, and plays everything, there be gems everywhere.

I mean I may have gone into a few schoolyard scraps over Genesis vs Snes but i outgrew that phase ~~

That's why I buy video game consoles. UI layouts and a good, solid, much better user experience then other machines.
    But no seriously.... what?

PS4 didn't have Sony screw ups like the PS3 did. Xbox One like all Xboxs has low/no appeal outside of the US not to mention a bad start because of Mattrick. Nintendo got lucky with the Wii's gimmick and hasn't been able to replicate its success since.

It's going to be very hard for Microsoft to ever win a generation especially if the Xbox 360 couldn't. The fact that the Xbox One is only strong in North America and the UK while being nonexistent in Japan hurts it a lot in terms of sales. Unlike the Xbox 360, where the Xbox One is strong PS4 is still beating it. Nintendo's problem is they lack third-party which leads to long droughts and most people treat their console as a secondary to a PS4 or Xbox One.

I've always preferred Sony's exclusives over Microsofts, but I still haven't hopped on the PS4 train because there weren't enough original games (too many PS3 ports) to get me on board, but that new Horizon game definitely has me debating it.

I actually think their is a way for Microsoft to make a come-back but I doubt they will do it.

Allow Steam, just like on Windows, on the xbox platform. Allowing steam alone will create a major hype on the internet that even if it cost money by reducing digital sales the raw sales might make it up even.

microsoft needs a game changer if they want to keep the xbox as a strong brand, sure I don't see them dropping the xbox just because it's number 2 but that wouldn't be that bad as long as it has a chance to get number 1 place.

Sony won by sticking to the same shit. Microsoft has kept losing higher ups who keep trying ideas that fail. A disastrous launch, another attempt at pushing kinect, letting most of their ips die off and running the same tired ones into the ground and pushing away fans, microtransactions in almost every series that previously did not have them. There is no one big 'heres why the xbone failed' it is just a series of constant mismanaged flop ideas one after the other.

I mean shit after halo wars 2 has released can you name another xbox exclusive coming out this year? any at all with an actual release date?

The PS4 is no marvel. It is just a better PS3. You put games in it and play them on your tv. Same as it was 10 years ago, same as it was 25 years ago.

Sadly around like 2008/9 they gave up on the same idea for the xbox 360 and let it wither on the vine as they kept trying to pull a Wii and it just never worked.

To me, PS4 won this generation because Xbox One tried to shove it's fist up my ass. Granted, it later pulled out the hand, saying "lol just kidding!", but I do not forget that hovering menace.

Plus, quite the sweet amount of exclusives. Which makes me bang my head on the wall for refusing to get any consoles this round around.

In my opinion when Microsoft decided to release games on PC, That is when they gave up on being a console only brand.

It makes zero sense to buy a XB1 if you have a half decent (even walmart special) PC.

Colin said it best to be honest.

Nintendo showed you can't live on first party titles alone and Microsoft shows you can't live on 3rd party titles alone.

Sony has a great mix (while rocky at the first) of first and third party exclusive titles, with multi-platform games.

Microsoft has Halo Wars 2 (It bombed in ratings) State of Decay 2 (no release date) and Crackdown 3 (no release date) this year. By Microsoft wanting to release the Xbox Scrop they are showing they want to put this gen and the XB1 behind them.

That E3 showing is something they never recovered from.

Also there has never been a console generation that ended with them on top. The Ps3 was a shit show for a long time and end the end it barely outsold the 360.

Edit: I do recommend people watch both videos even if you don't like Colin.

Who cares? I own the consoles who have games I want to play, which is all of them.

Having a sense of "loyalty" to a giant corporation is kinda silly in my opinion.

Of course it makes sense. They have different library's of games available. Not everything on PC is on Xbox or vice versa.

I mean yeah, but if you are loyal to a brand you're more likely to buy it and the more people who buy it the more games we get. Just some food for thought.

Not anymore. Everything that is getting a XB1 release is getting a PC release as well.

That has been the case since the recent Forza.

We are not talking about brand loyalty, try watching the video before commenting.

It may seem like it but this isn't a Console Vs Console thread. This is looking at the pros and cons all 3 systems made and why Sony has came out on top and why XB is having a hard time.

Lack of exclusives being one of those major reasons.

The PS4 just has a far more interesting lineup so far with way better exclusives and in my opinion, better sevice. That's not to say that the Xbox One doesn't have good exclusives, the PS4 just has a larger variety of them. I'm also just simply a huge fan of how Sony has been handling this generation with their services to the console and everything, they really one-upped themselves compared to how they were handling everything with the PS3. I also haven't really been keeping track of Xbox stuff for this stuff, but a lot of PS4 games often go on sale on the PS+ Store for a huge amount for a while. I just find it overall way better, but I also don't think the Xbox is necessarily bad either.

Being loyal to a brand has nothing to do with the amount of games purchased, unless you're suggesting buying and supporting shit games because "loyalty" is a good way to go.

Factually incorrect, since things like indie games exist. I highly doubt everything on the Xbox Storefront is getting a PC release.

What does it matter "who came out on top"? Do you think Microsoft is going to pack it up and go home, or?... Its something that no one has any investment in unless you literally work for said companies or own stock. Just seems like an odd avenue for discussion, especially given that its going to devolve into which console is better.

Name me some games on XB1 that isn't on PC....ill wait.

Also indie games don't sell consoles.

All AAA titles besides Halo 5 (and even part of that got a PC release) is on PC now.

    Ryse.
Dead Rising 3 & 4 (4 is coming to Ps4 in the winter)
    Gears of War Ultimate.
    Gears of War 4.
    Forza.
    Killer Instinct
State of Decay 2 (and 1)
Cup Head. (When it finally releases and ya I know its indie)
    Ori and the blind forest.
    Quantum Break.
Halo Wars 2 (and now Halo Wars 1 if you buy the deluxe version)

All have a PC release and many more.
