Air Strike on Mosque in Syria kills 42

    http://reut.rs/2nwLPn4
Warplanes struck a mosque in the rebel-held village of al-Jina, southwest of Atarib near Aleppo in Syria, killing at least 42 people and wounding dozens, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based war monitor, said on Thursday.

The jets struck as the mosque was full of worshippers at evening prayer, said the Observatory, which monitors the Syrian war via a network of contacts across the country.

The village is located in one of the main rebel-held parts of Syria, the northwest that includes Idlib province and the western parts of Aleppo province, and its population has been swollen by refugees, U.N. agencies have said.

The Syrian and Russian military have carried out many air strikes in Idlib and Aleppo provinces during the war. The United States has also carried out strikes there in recent months, targeting a jihadist rebel group that until last year was a formal affiliate of al Qaeda.

Rebels in northwest Syria fighting to oust President Bashar al-Assad also include groups supported by Turkey, the United States and Gulf monarchies.
This is just speculation on Twitter, but a horrific use of U.S. resources if true:

*inb4 Putinistas are perfectly happy with taking the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights at their word when the U.S. might be responsible for civilian casualites.

Would be lbs in US, no? I'm not sure where US arms are manufactured, or how they are labeled.

Obama was often hesitant when it came to bombing targets where there was the possibility of high collateral damage. This kind of weakness is gone now.

We like to do things wacky in the US if I had to guess it be pounds.

It's probably a troll, but there's a large swath of western society thinks people overseas (and sometimes not even then) with brown skin are automatically the enemy and thus their lives are basically valueless.

We live in a global economy. US oil pipelines are built with Chinese steel. I was simply claiming ignorance because I didn't know for sure. Would you rather I make strong claims on topics I know nothing about on the basis of conjecture?

Many of our items have both imperial and metric.

It is when it keeps you from killing terrorists.

From what I googled the US military uses metric to better coordinate with allies.

This is to blame on ISIS. They are using innocent people to hide behind, they are setting up weapon caches in mosques on purpose because they knew how the west would react to this.

Are you SURE that your next door neighbor isn't a jihadist? Better call in an airstrike just to be sure, can't be a bunch of weak-kneed pansies, can we?

Is that what we're calling the rebels these days?

Anyway, your calculation is off, by a lot. If you would bomb a mosque to kill one terrorist, you need to reconsider your morals and the value you see in human life.

I'm not sure if was just one terrorist, we don't know that. Then again one terrorist can be very very important due to his status.

If my next door neighbor a former Military vet from the Korea/Vietnam era is a jihadist it'd be the biggest surprise known to man.

And the solution is to bomb the place? We have so many more tools than bombs.

Regardless, justifying the massacre of innocents by saying that ISIS is hiding somewhere in there is a shit argument. It's one thing for something like this to be a mistake - mistakes happen. But to intentionally target regions highly populated with innocents to get that one terrorist guy brandishing his AK is morally bankrupt.
