The act of just being here illegally harms no one. Things the do while they're here sometimes do. And the overwhelming fact that your pathetic anecdotes don't account for is that to overwhelming majority of those people come here, work, and live their life hurting exactly no one just like most Americans and not a single fucks worth of harm is caused by them being here. Going after them in a deportation orgy, a horribly stupid and expensive idea especially from the party of "small efficient government", is not a cost effective way to serve the public good and will cause more harm to citizens than help them. @supertony51 No machismo largely has it right. If illegal immigrants are wrecking Arizona's system that's because your welfare system is shit. And I suspect that belief is based more on the typical right wing bull sprinkled with an anecdote or two rather than actual evidence. Most of the data I've read demonstrates them to be a net positive frequently using less services than natives. Kinda like when you guys insisted and ranted and rave about how we need to test welfare recipients for drugs. 87,000 had gone through the welfare system in a year and if you include all the people who declined to take the retest it caught a total of 26 people I think. Didn't exactly save you guys the millions Republicans swore it would and just made further the bad stigma anyone who has to go on welfare has. Good job conservatives on to the illegals!

Wish I had my desktop so I could find my citations, one was quite good about examining the tax contribution vs welfare usage of illegals, from a few of my labor econ courses but this will have to do. I used to be on the hurrrr illegals bad side but actually studying the impact flipped the perspective.

You are comparing a law that is enforcing Amendments to the Constitution protecting the rights of people with commanding a state employee to enforce a law that isn't part of the Constitution. They are given the right to regulate immigration, but they cannot force local employees to obey an order to hold a person.

That's the point of this thread, ICE wants to arrest people who committed those kinds of crimes. They made requests for them to be detained, but instead of holding them LEOs denied the requests and released them.

Sanctuary cities are holding the federal government accountable. Any actual conservative, that is someone who isn't an authoritarian like yourself, believes that states should not defer to federal authority. This standard where when it comes to immigration the states should ignore the law because the feds tell them to is asinine.
