No kidding, its 2.0 in Georgia as well.
I'm at a 3.9 myself and I am by no means a tryhard when it comes to school work.
So much this.
If you want a paid degree in taco salad interpretive dance go pay for it yourself.
I have zero problems with free education as long as it is not addressed as "here are the funds, go do whatever you want with it".
If it covered job training so we can get adults out of having to work at mcdonalds for the rest of their life it would be a positive. Then younger people can have those jobs part time while they are in school. Have some normalcy finally and not this ridiculous notion that we need to raise the minimum wage nationwide so people that can't afford to live off it won't ever have to.
This doesn't suggest the achieving a 3.0 is easy. This suggests you could have gone to a more competitive school.
I remember the start of third year, when all of the CC transfers flooded in laughing at 2.5-3.5s when they had 3.9+ and many of them had 4-0s.
Guess who AP'd their first quarter at a 4-year college? (btw AP is < 2.0)

I'd believe it. I mean for starters I'm not taking rocket science or anything that should be hard. The most "technical" part of my courses are understanding various laws and retaining that knowledge. I have a personal interest in the course studies so that does give me an edge as I was familiar with a lot of the work before even opening a book.
Hell I was ecstatic when I got a 90 in my basic math courses a few years back.
Seriously. I hate math. I might as well felt like I graduated with a degree in aeronautical engineering. lol

That is fine and dandy. I don't want any degrees paid for in "women's studies" or "dancing". Zero.

or neck tattoos lmao
But they're a necessary part of society so why don't you chill with the arrogance. Maybe you don't like having your trash picked up or roads to drive on so you can get to your job requiring marketable skills. If you do maybe show a little respect.
At least these folks are doing an honest days work which is needed for a society to function.

trashmen actually get paid pretty good and its often a county job with benefits
A quick look @ Google shows a median salary of $32,000ish. Higher end with OT approaches $70,000.
Lower end is $18,000 (bottom 10%) - still better than burgers.
Depending where you live that is good money for someone with no college education.

I was doing a little more thinking about this, and I'd recommend it be extended to vo-tech schools as well. Skilled trades like plumber, electrician, carpentry, etc make decent money.

well, CC is the cheapest form of college,(even in "Sweet jesus why is everything so expensive!?" california it'll run you less than 100 a semester usually.) So that shouldn't hurt that much.
And most CCs offer specific job training programs(like welding specific courses and such)

free?? how is this possible?
all community colleges have waved all fees?
I know in Georgia we have the Zell Miller grant. Coupled with Pell grant (federal) students pay zero. Actually students often get a negative balance refund check even after book purchases. I'm assuming the left overs is to buy school cloths, maybe a laptop or something.
I don't pay a dime and I average $500-$1000 left over every semester.
I'm not exactly sure why they give us back a refund check of so much, but it is what it is. How do you "refund" something that costs someone zero? lol
damn communist socialist republicans from TN, they are probably Muslim not even born in this country..!!!
The issue that I can see is that we push College on everyone. That is we push for everyone to go and get a four year degree from University of <Insert State Here>. College is not for everyone and it seems to be the only path after high school that is emphasized. Also a four year degree does not equal a job or a successful career after you are done. College seems to be heralded as the only way to be successful.
Technical and Trade schools are ignored. I have a friend whose brother honestly is not that book smart. If he was sent to a four year college to get a BS in Whatever he'd have flunked out in the first semester. Well he became a Semi-Truck drive and makes a pretty good income. Why push and force College on everyone and waste the money?
2.0 is too low imo.. 3.0 too high to due bell curves and challenged people...
2.5 sounds fair enough to the system.
Wonder how much of a difference this will make, people with degrees are already in menial labor jobs as is. College degree's doesn't guarantee you a skilled job, gives you chance at getting one.
