Nightborne Allied Race should have used the Nightfallen model

I know the Nightborne get their beautiful bodies back when they are cured by their addiction, and I know there isn't any chance that Blizzard will make the change now that they've announced their plans for allied races, so this thread isn't much more than a whine thread, but I really believe it would have been way better if that weren't the case. The way Blizzard ended up handling the Nightborne kind of felt like the Nightborne suffered no real consequences of their addiction to the Nightwell. Some random druid and some adventurers showed up and solved all of their problems for them. Life doesn't work like that, let alone recovering from addiction.

First of all, they look way more distinct from the Night Elves than the Nightborne currently do. Second, they look much more like a Horde race, and actually look like they could be 'bad guys'. Finally, the fact that their bodies are still partially withered, despite being cured of their addiction, would be a constant reminder of the fate that befell their race. It would also make more sense for the Nightfallen to join the Horde, as the healthy Nightborne civilization would likely reject their reassimilation due to typical Elven xenophobia (and the awkwardness of hanging around people they once exiled), forcing the Nightfallen to seek allies for survival. The Blood Elves, sympathetic to their suffering from magical addiction, would have helped them out. While the Alliance chooses not to trust them, in the same way one would have difficulty trusting a recovering addict around their valuable goods.

In addition, they would not be able to be Warriors like the Nightborne can, because they obviously lack the physical strength to swing a sword. Alternatively, it could be written in that Withered who are cured by their addiction recover to Nightfallen, but never back to healthy Nightborne.

Your reasoning is "Life doesn't work like that."

It's a Fantasy world with Magic involved and fictional creatures, so that argument makes no sense and I highly doubt people would want Nightfallen instead of the regular Nightborne.

I much prefer the Nightfallen over the bland looking Nightborne. They're what, darker Night Elves? At least with Nightfallen you have phhysical differences other than pointed chins.

I completely agree. I think Nightfallen would have been a much cooler and unique choice. When someone told me about the Blizzcon news and allied races, I even thought that it was Nightfallen they meant, so I got disappointed when I realized it was Nightborne.

I agree, but only because I like the nightfallen model more. Any lore reasons for regular nightborne joining up can be explained/handwaved.

I hope that we get the option to choose those kinds of faces/skins.

There weren't that many surviving Nightfallen anyway, beyond The Three, we have a couple dozen refugees in Meredil, which were cured, but the others that didn't find their way there became Withered, used as shock troops in the attacks on Suramar City.
While many in the city hungered, actual Withering would likely have been purged.
But your duty to Azeroth is not yet complete. More is demanded of you... a price the living cannot pay.

Darker and more magical oriented and very different compared to Night Elves, if you can't see the difference that's your fault. I don't think people(Despite what people say in this thread and it's a low number) would want Nightfallen.

I disagree that the Nightfallen look that much more distinct. Nude/near nude yes they do, but once they're armored up and casting/fighting? I doubt it. Armored up and standing still? Maybe, if they shake when standing still for 5 seconds.

I also have an issue with it story wise. Any fallen would be fed fruit from the Arcan'dor by now. I can't see there being enough of them left to be made into an allied race.

Have you even played through the Suramar quests...

"Blood elves should have used the Wretched model"

While I don't disagree, lorewise they were either cured or withered too far.

I don't feel that there is enough visual distinctiveness between the Night Elves and the Nightborne. If you slapped dark blue/purple skins on a Night Elf, you would have something that is 90% accurate to what the Nightborne are today.

I see your point, but personally I'd rather they run with Nightborne as planned and add additional Forsaken races, like undead elves. That would please me more.

Ignoring the fact that entire point of suramar/nighthold was curing them so they are not nightfallen...nah this idea still sucks. Tho, i must say, there is something interesting in idea of playing magical heroin addict.

the Nightfallen should no longer exist with the fruit of the arcandor all must have been cured, also the blood elves recovered the sunwell and now they are almost light elves , it is not something weird in Blizz

the void elves would have to use the wretched model to distinguish themselves from the Blood elves?

    Same silhouette, model and animations.

This is the one thing I am disliking about Allied Races. There is no more distinct faction silhouette.

Maaaaannn, that wretched model looks bad haha!

Based from my understanding of the Suramar questline (which has been burned into my skull aboout 5 times), the Nightfallen were cured, or too far gone at this point?

I hope I am right at least, otherwise I have seriously not been paying attention lol

Should also say thats a general question, not directed at Rhlor, who I have quoted.

Anytime you play an elf you are playing a magical heroine addict. You’re just playing the functional ones who has not lost their teeth or sold their kids to their dealers for a fix yet. Just give them time.
