Shockadin was created as a bastardized paladin spec when retribution was all around horrible.


Ret's fine now.

Might want to try it out.

If you want to be a shockadin you should just respec your farming mage arcane. It's the same thing but better because it doesn't need heals or plate because it actually does damage and can avoid getting hit.

A ret in greens/blues will out damage a holy paladin in epics. Makes sense considering the ret tree is the damage tree.

Specing shockadin vs spec'ing holy the damage increase isn't anything to write home about.

People dont sec shockadin to be Uber DPS. It is a fun viable build in PVP or PVE. Everyone knows Ret does more damage. Not everyone wants to be LOLRET.

For 5 longer fights with elites ret will outshine on damage but for questing regular world mobs some people just want a holy spec that can burst down mobs a little faster. And still be able to heal the 5 man when needed. If we had duel specs when the xpac hit it wouldn't be a problem I could pick holy build and ret build and be set.

You realize you are calling the entire judgement system a joke right? Holy shock does damage and healing and every paladin gets consecrate and Ret Aura. Spell power is a dual purpose stat and last time i checked Seals were applied through melee. Ret talents affect Holy damage just as much as they affect Rets. The only attainable Prot talent that affects healing is Imp Devo Aura which is a joke.

Nobody goes into an instance as Holy DPS. When instancing Holy is a healer. a 51/00/20 or 50/00/21 build is every bit a healer as any other Holy paladin. Bacon is a joke in 5 mans.

As far as dual specs goes. You still have to build 2 different sets of gear if you go holy for healing and ret for soloing. Holy can solo well and switch out only a few pieces of gear to switch from soloing to MP5 gear to heal anything. Or you can carry a tank set as your second spec. That would be a seriously versatile PVE character. Tank or Healer. You can fill one of the 2 party members that every group needs.

Holy dps was quite nice early in beta, but they've nerfed the damage into the ground, and it's no longer very good.

The best dps you can get with a Holy spec now is in AoE grinding, which suggests that a hybrid holy/prot spec might be useful for leveling, and maybe PvP. At level 71 you can get both Holy Shock and Holy Shield; you'd shock yourself every CD to increase the number of mobs you can handle.
