    Your Worst Noob Moment

Whether you admit it or not, we were all noobs at one point in time. A recent thread here about your first character made me think back to my early days of playing WoW back during mid-vanilla. I didn't know much about how WoW worked or really what it was all about when I purchased it on a lark one lazy weekend afternoon. I was immediately drawn to the Undead and ultimately decided on leveling an Undead Warlock.

I stuck to solo leveling all the way up to somewhere in my early 40s and then decided to branch out and try an instance. I found an Uldaman pug and we started making our way into the mine. We were on our way to the instance portal (you'll remember that the actual instance is quite a ways inside the cave) when suddenly a horde of scorpions or spiders (which I think I pulled) came rushing toward us. Someone in the group called out for me to use my AoE. I frantically searched my toolbars and finally said that I didn't know what AoE meant. Frustration growing, one of the party members explained it to me and said that I should have a spell called Rain of Fire. I searched once again and finally figured out that I never trained it because it didn't seem like a good spell. Although I don't quite remember, I'm pretty sure they insulted me in some manner and then disbanded the group shortly thereafter. Lol.

It pains me to look back on that knowing what I know about the game now. That experience is one of the reasons why I'm not *too* hard on noobs these days.

What is your worst noob moment?

Edit: Lol, I also remember the tank was calling me a "DoT machine" because I had no concept of threat and was constantly pulling off of him. Ah, good times.
    Constructs in *my* raid?

It's more likely than you think.

I don't usually act as a new player unwilling to learn, but let's see...

I'm fairly sure I got flamed for not being in defensive stance on my warrior tanking Deadmines, while insisting that battle stance would help us clear faster.

we don't speak about the days when my first character, orc warrior, attempted to tank uldaman. we got it done, but it wasn't pretty. back then, warriors had no aoe tanking abilities at all.

Going a whole 5-man heroic in aspect of viper yet still being able to do more dps than the tanks... they never suspected a thing lol.

    Well my own.

I stopped playing Star Wars Galaxies after their last combat screwover and decided eh join my friends allready playing wow. Well they were allready 60 and raiding mc/bwl so i set my nose to the grindstone and started leveling .. first toon a pally and got in a VC 5 man .. my very very 1st 5 man. First green drops. Now up to this point i had no clue what the roll system was like in wow .. in SWG it was .. he who does most damage gets it.

Well i kept hitting the dice for a chance at the loot. i thought .. dice was chance to get it .. and the coin was that you din't care that you got it.. *to sell* .. needless to say after the 4th drop the group was annoyed. because i was being the typical pally and needing everything lol.

bout 5 min later one spoke up and it was finally cleared up what each symbol meant. need bc you need to use it .. greed if not

Really, if someone calls you out for bad english they should be the ones apologizing.

Heaven forbid the people who complain would put about 0.2 shits extra effort in to read it, understand it and continue. (Personally, it didn't even take more than 0.01 shits)

Ahh, noobery. I miss the days when everything was fresh and new and I had no clue how to play ... in retrospect it was probably the most fun I've had in the game. I recall when I was levelling my warrior, I put points into every weapon specialty talent in the Arms tree just in case I replaced my axe with a sword. I also remember my first time actually tanking an instance, and the other four people who got extremely upset with me when I wiped us several times in Sunken Temple due to complete lack of tanking skill :P

I think the worst noobtastic thing I did with my warrior was not picking up first aid until the late 50s (in classic). I ground almost to the level cap stopping to eat every time I had to med ... oh what a world of change those bandaids made!

I also recall dusting off my Hunter alt during Wrath and playing for several weeks before realizing that my pet had its own talent tree. To make matters worse, I was BM spec.

I used rank one of my spells until level 50. Not even kidding. It was a whole new world after that.

When we were doing Wailing Caverns for the first time, we were all around lvl 18 or so. My paladin friend was tanking, and we pugged a priest healer to heal for us. But I didn't know what I was doing, so I ended up off-tanking/off-healing...in WC. I would put hots on the tank, then commence to go into bear form and taunt mobs off of people. It was awful.

I remember on my first character, a dwarf hunter, when I died on the Tram to SW. I was rezzed in Elwynn, and was like WTF IS THIS SHIT THE GAME BORKED!!11! and quit.

Then I made a rogue, and when I tried to shoot like a hunter, I died. I was like "0.o where'd my bow go?" and I realized that rogues don't get auto-shot.

Wondering after a handful of deaths why I was dying even quicker.

My Worst Noob "moment" was when I in vanilla wiped a 40 man raid in BWL at Chromaggus(think I spelled it right) Didnt get decursed and got transformed :P result was a massive nerdrage and flaming on teamspeak and lost some DKP but this moment can still make me smile due to the chaos it made today ;D

    Re: Your Worst Noob Moment

I did quite a bit of reading while leveling up so I had a pretty solid knowledge of the game and its mechanics. Therefore, most of my "noob" moments should have been easily avoidable if I had been paying any attention at all.

For instance, doing the Opera event in Kara and getting BBW. We kept wiping because the dps was pulling aggro off me. We finally did it with the dps cutting back a fuckton. So we took a 5 minute break after that and it was then I noticed I never upgraded shield slam, my biggest threat increase at the time, after switching to prot from fury. So after a quick portal to org to "repair" we went on our way with no more issues.

Opera must have been cursed for me as I also tried tanking it with a broken weapon multiple times.
