    Pillar Humping in Duels?

Had an arcane mage flame me the other day when i beat him in a duel about this... said its not honorable and it shows how bad at PvP i am. I told him im sorry i don't enjoy eating arcane/ele/destro/boomkin/hunters to the face on a regular basis.

Anyways, i know theres probably several threads like this already, but i wanted to ask the pvp savvy members of mmo-champ what they think. Whats go/no-go in duels? Nitro Boosts? Pillar humping? Lay on Hands?

    Speak up

Use whatever you want. If the guy wants to duel you again to stroke his ego and you agree not to use a certain thing then do it, otherwise do what you can to survive.. Pots are still not ok. ever.. lol

There is no reason why you should not be able to use your environment to your advantage, it is called being a resourceful player,

I pop fire elemental totem and heroism whenever there is a duel that I do not want, or an opponent thinking :"let me flex my wrathful epenis in his face", most of them are stupid enough not to kill the totem, some try to kill the elemental.

Uh. So, what, does he think a duel is just spamming your abilities into each other?

    Re: Pillar Humping in Duels?

In general ruling for duels anything that can be used in an arena, and used by professions is generally acceptable. Players tend to find it annoying when people LoS them under any circumstances, no? It does not mean it's not allowed, it just means that some people might not take a liking to you doing it. Now, IMO anything goes but potions and my paladin's bubble when I'm fighting someone else 1v1.

My standard rules: anything permitted in arenas is permitted in duels. if it's not permissible in arenas, it's not allowed in duels.

I normally consider it a win on my side when a opponent paladin loh's, and also army of the dead in a duel is a little iffy too, pretty much anything with a cd of 10 min or more

    this!

once lost a duel (and as such had to do the washing up) to my house mate at lvl 70 cos he used Bag of marbles on me :P made me lol so hard its reward from a freaking lvl 7 quest :P seriously the shit like this he has in his bags for those duels he just has to win is unreal.

Although the accepted practice is if you can in arena you can in a duel. so pillar humping is not only legit its expected :P

    Re: Pillar Humping in Duels?

Anything goes within an arena, in my opinion. Using pots or AoTD or anything like that during a duel, however, is no-go.

I say this because hiding behind pillars isn't overpowered. As a mage this actually gives you a super-huge advantage if the opponent goes running, because this means you can run away yourself behind a pillar and eat/drink up.

As a warlock you can sick your pet on them while they're behind the pillar so you don't have to worry about them healing up or running away from you.

Even in outdoor situations, I usually don't have too much trouble fighting DKs who use AoTD. I simply vanish or invisible (depending on which class I happen to be at the time) and wait it out. Once, when my Invisible was on cooldown, I sheep spammed on the DK from 20 yards right after he had summoned his army and then just ran like hell for 10 more seconds. Then I promptly destroyed him.

Duels? Anything goes imo, including pots. Just the same as Paladin, Druid, Priest, Shaman using a cheeky little heal/HoT.
Back to your bridge, you evil Troll!

You sir, do not qualify to have an acceptable duel. Healing is part of a class, you can't change that. You have been given abilities to your own class in order to counter others abilities. If you think using a heal is unfair, than I say using kidney shot is unfair...exactly.

So no Nitro Boosts? those things have helped me beat warriors and rogues alot in duels xD (Considering that fade against most classes with a spammable snare is near enough useless =/)

I know a guy that actively uses FAP's in duels its pretty funny seeing a rogue vanish and try to re-open only to have CS and then KS be immune and then seeing him wonder if he ever put crippling on his daggers xD

    Re: Pillar Humping in Duels?

One time when I was leveling in Hinterlands I dueled a rogue as a feral druid.I was lvl 42 in normal gear while he was full heirloom lvl45. I defeated him because I used my healing spells and the first thing he said is...You healed NOOB! And than he spammed me with NOOB! until I ignored him.. Fun times ;D

    Re: Pillar Humping in Duels?

I understand that Arena is serious business and that some items and abilities shouldn't be usable.

But what has happened to duels?

When I duel it's mainly for fun, so who cares if someone use an invisibility potion or pops nitro boosts?

    Re: Pillar Humping in Duels?

In duels the only thing that is important is that you stay alive and the other guy dies.
And it would be stupid too not use all tools available because it is "not honorable". Especially if the other one would be able too pwn you.

Generally 1v1 duels are regarded as "fun".. peoples idea of fun varies but using lay on hands isn't really fun since your back to full health and the person dueling you is a bit fucked.. it's not fair really same with bubble, you shouldn't need to use a long CD in a duel.

I have nothing against people using nitro boots i use them myself to close the gap between me and a ranged.
