    Playing DK's in Cataclysm is SLOW !

    Heey fellow dk's,


    since yesterday i am in the beta and the first thing i noticed about all the good stuff they have added is that DK's are played so slow now ! I am really waithing on my cooldowns to come off. I hope they going to increase it, or that i find a way in my rotations to speed it up.

    So what is your experiance so far with dk's in cata?
    Even in my dreams, I'm an idiot who knows he's about to wake up to reality.

    My experience is I will likely be a member of the No Beta Club for the 3rd time running.

    Since i read the notes for DK, and if they wont change, i will likely to NOT play my DK in cata.

    I'd like to try it myself first, but if I don't like my DK, I still have 6 other 80's waiting

    No worries here, although I wouldn't mind a beta invite :P

    Let me be honest when I say this:

    Thank god.

    I'm absolutely sick of being GCD locked, my arm hurting after every DPS heavy boss fight and there being absolutely no room for decision making in my rotation because a split second means everything.

    Haste will fill runes faster so maybe you just have to stack some haste with gear/gems for faster yellow hits?

    The only thing that was preventing me from seriously trying a DK was the GCD clutter. I like having time to make meaningful decisions, rather than having to burn a perfect rotation into my head that I repeat thoughtlessly.

    It makes tons of sense, though, that once you get used to playing like that, having to actually wait for resources to come back is going to feel like forever.

    I think we can all agree the majority of the DK playerbase is special and will love this change

    See I'm completely the opposite.

    I think having a really tight rotation, one that relys on split second decision making and lightning fast reflexes is a good thing - You can easily distinguish a good DK from a bad DK by more than his gear, they are really easy to play badly.

    I mourn the destruction of the rune system, it served me well.
    Time to roll a rogue again.

    The tight rotation isn't what's getting me, it's the complete lack of decision making and the fact that this class is giving me carpel tunnel and I'm fucking 22.

    It's why fury War is SO popular, very high damage with 3 abilities to use and nothing to do half the time.
    The tight Blood/Unholy rotations were interesting in the fact that the difference between people mastering them (and able to adapt them in a movement fight) and the ones unable to do so, clipping diseases and such showed.
    For Frost it was even more fun.
    I hate when i don't have anything to do half the time.
    Having 2 out of 5 gcd free isn't fun, it's boring as hell. Hopefully they'll tweak it a little so we got MORE things to do.
    The current Frost gameplay is really nice, tight, with few room for error, and a priority management which has a big influence on your dps outcome.

    Sadly the "slow rythm" is something we know we will get since the day they announced the Rune change because "people didn't like being gcd starved and having to mash buttons all the time" and the devs wanted people to have "time to put fillers in the rotations" (fillers you don't have the ressources for, and still won't have unless they drastically change some talents/mechanics from what i've read till now), translated into :
    "People complain that dks are too hard to play and want it to look like the Fury war, sitting on their butt half the time, with no decision making since you have 3 abilities to use"

    edit>> Kerwyn, just stop playing Unholy and go Frost then.
    And i wonder which melee classes out there (or ranged for what it takes) have room for "decision making".
    The only ones i see with something remotely close to what you pretend to want is Ret with 2p T10, Frost Dk and maybe SPriest/Affli Lock.
    All the rest use rotations, more or less complicated, where you don't have room for "decision making" but you have actions giving you more dps, or less, and in a given situation it doesn't change, and those "decisions" have been made by spreadsheets.

    (oh and change your hotkeys if you get carpal syndrome, because it means they are terribly counter-ergonomic in their pattern...)

    You mean the thing that, in raid, on nearly all fights, should be macroed to something as hard to use as your mousewheel ?
    I don't call hitting HS having something to do, it's roughly as interesting as a mechanism as runestrike when tanking, and i'm glad it's going away as a "on next attack" ability.

    A fine example of someone who does not play a DK well, there is plenty of decision making done, maybe not up to the standards of say a feral druid, but certainly more than say a rogue or Arcane mage.

    AoE pack, Dnd is down and your diseases are spread, you think you can get 1 full cycle of your rotation off but if you fuck up by a second or more Dnd is going to drop and/or your diseases will drop off. You have a unholy and frost rune up but both your bloods are still off, what do you do?

    Keeping track of Dnd internal timers, Disease timers on multiple mobs, 6 seperate resource cooldowns (for your runes) and your runic power(this one not so much) takes some focus - You are just hating on Death knights simply for the beggining of the expansion (Back when I didn't play one, by the way)

    nobody is claiming that they are the hardest class to play, but claiming that they have zero desicion making to do is ridicules and unbelievably short sighted - they are very easy to play to a mediocre standard, but some of us love the play style on thats why we excel with them.
