People vote No, because it would take effort to support WoW on an OS that is only used by a VERY VERY SMALL percentage of all computer users.
And that effort could be better spend into making the game better, better game = more windows/mac players = more money.
Why should you support a barely used OS? Is it going to make them more money? I doubt so, because most of the Linux users that want to play WoW, already have the game and run it (usually trough 3rd party software.
Will they lose money if they don't? Not really, and if they do, it would be a loss that is barely noticable, considering Linux is barely used.
If they don't earn/gain money, they won't do it.
PS: You're also on the wrong forum, you might post this on the suggestion/tech support of the official WoW Forums.
Blizzard probably doesn't look at this forum, never will and thus won't even take your idea in consideration because it wasn't posted on their official forums.
Voted yes, I don't use Linux but the more players the better
OP: You're obviously doing it wrong. I get much higher fps under Linux than Windows. Get the correct drivers and do some more research on how to improve FPS for you specific hardware in Linux
Ubuntu has more than 12 million users. I expect that to double or triple in the next 5 years. I'm sure they will offer an official Linux (or at least Ubuntu) support some day.
Until then, WoW can still run perfectly fine on Linux, but it's a little complicated to get it working.

I fully support this so I can switch over to Linux as Windows Vista has hardly any drivers.
It's ignorance like this that plagues our world. The number of users under Linux is not small by any means. It is growing much more rapidly than Mac's userbase and will surpass them easily within a couple of years, if not sooner. It WILL earn them money, because it will apply to their entire userbase instead of of a specific market. Going by your statement, they never should have developed Mac support for WoW since that OS is used by a small percentage of computer users, as well.
Yes, some of us have WoW working on Linux, but we have to take extra steps and isntall extra software that Windows and Mac users do not need. We deserve the same ease of accessibility as other OS users.

Considering I have the available drivers and I have read available research, I believe I am NOT doing it wrong. Maybe you should link the information instead of saying "I'm doing it wrong"? I have a 9800 GT, 3G Ram, and a X2 4200+. I definitely should not be having FPS issues regardless. This is just another reason for the need for Linux support.

I would not like to see it on Linux, simply because it's a cheap OS. People who use cheap OS's tend to stray far from the more intelligent pack of the bunch. As for me, I use Windows Vista (a seemingly unintelligent choice in OS), however, I have learned how to use it wisely and never seem to have as many problems with the OS as other people have. This is due to BASIC computer knowledge and some nifty programs.
IMO, we have enough l337 speaking morons in WoW, why populate it with more kids who got Linux for free from their dad who works minimum wage at a computer chop shop?
Just my outrageous opinion though, that is all.
“Justice and power must be brought together, so that whatever is just may be powerful, and whatever is powerful may be just.”
Seeing Ubuntu is joining the market as a viable userfriendly OS alongside Windows and Mac, as well as being a preinstalled OS on more and more computers ( I usually don't praise Dell, but I do love them for starting the trend on their MiniPC chain ) I think this will soon be a necessary investment for Blizzard

Total waste of blizzard's time for such a small minority of players.

It "runs", but nowhere near perfectly. On my main gaming machine, I can run WoW at ~60 FPS on maximum graphics in 25 man raids. On Ubuntu 10, I get 15 FPS sitting idle in Dalaran on near minimum settings.
OT: I don't think Linux support will ever happen simply due to the investment outweighing the return.

This statement alone shows that you know absolutely nothing about Linux, and probably very little about computing in general.
I think you underestimate this. Ensuring compatibility would be a nightmare. They could create a version that is compatible with the most common distribution and just say 'fuck you' to every other dist which happens to not be compatible. And basically they already do this, but the supported distribution is called Mac OS and is not compatible to any other (as I know of).
The thing is, that linux is still not a gamer market. You (as linux user) either have a seperate windows installation for gaming or get along with wine. So no game developer (or publisher) needs to bother with this. But it's a bit catch-22. Yet you could say the same about Mac OS actually, but maybe some blizzard employee just loves Macs and wants to play their games on them too?
How mature of you. And totally not elitist. Let's just hunt down all those unworthy vista users and put them in camps, so they don't reproduce with our intelligent linux user kids. Right?
Never have and never will use Linux..
But i still think they should support it.
I mean, why not?

Time to get a real operating system. But in all honesty this is the reality check for you linux users.
Microsoft OS's , for gaming and all your general needs
Apple, for artys stuff, and for rich fat cats, also technologically illiterate people.
Linux, for hackers and network security specialist, also those goth kids who think there cool for running the "non conformist os"(ps those kids are losers learn dos n00bs)
in all honesty you better just break down and make a duel boot or get windows 7 unless your running a network for a large company, in which case get a personal computer.
