Yes, according to WoWWiki (and couple of other posts I've seen here), all the elves at the lodge have become wretched, after Ranger Lord Hawkspear finds an item of seductive energy.

I'd like to know more about this.

But RPing kind of has to fit the lore of the game world, otherwise it's not RP, it becomes fan fiction.

That reminds me that I was once in a guild where the leader was honestly trying to RP his character as the forgotten son of Kael'Thas Sunstrider... It made me laugh until I found out he was serious... Some people come up with the stupidest ideas and think they're awesome, especially when it comes to RP.

The irony of a group of zealous High Elves, who turned their noses up at the use of Fel, falling so far from grace, failing where the Horde Blood Elves did not, is so delightful.

It was starting to look like even Blizzard was forgetting that Silvermoon Blood Elves are not the same as Kael's army. It's refreshing to see that the Quel'dorei, up until now portrayed as Mary-Sue martyr figures, are also capable of making a few royal cock-ups as well.

I try to be open minded regarding people's rp storylines. But if you're seriously rping that your character replaced Arthas as the Lich King rather than Bolvar Fordragon, that is simply bad, mary sue rp that goes directly against the story and lore of the game. I hope I've misunderstood your post.

Some common things to avoid:

Being related to or being major lore figures.
Being a vastly powerful character far beyond what players can actually achieve.
Going directly against the game's lore. Expanding upon it with your imagination is fine. Directly contradicting it is not.

I'm actually not a fan of how those High Elves got axed. I hope that at the least Ranger Lord Hawkspear is still alive. I had hopes for an Alliance High Elf leader, who is not a trophy wife. The High Elves are still technically a part of the Alliance. Let them get a leader. Even if he is a joke or has no political power. He could just be symbolic.

agreed i cant stand RPers that know little to fuck all about lore and make up stores that make no sense!
its the only reason i stick to normal realms

Better option is Vareesa finally realising shes been a royal dumbass since the sunwell was destroyed and fires an arrow point blank(ish) into the base of Rhonin's skull. Once thats done she can return to Silvermoon and try and restore the badassery that was the Windrunners (Sylvannas is obviously still badass). That atleast gives us more potential to have a council in SM that is actually meaningful.

Edit: This is of course after all the High Elves seeing how they too can go down a bad road and jump off their high horse with a massive kick to their over inflated ego.
