And as we leave what are your fondest memories.

It struck me today while watching the loading bar. This is it, the big patch going from WOTLK to Cataclysm, it was a long period, but it felt like a short time for the expansion, so many fond memories, so many interesting achivments, so many friends made, enemies destroyed and characters created and long deleted.
Ah yes, WOTLK, soon to be considered the Greatest Expansion of all time after 6 months of Cataclysm, and it will make some of us nostalgic, Nostalgic for the serene yet calming scenery, for the legions of undead we destroyed over and over again, and for the peaceful denizens such as the Walrus People and the friendly Kavdirs. And yet, as I am, I was Nostalgic for the period before BC, as I was only 14 when I started playing this game, I feel great pangs of nostalgia for places such as Sithilus, Winterspring and Arathi Highlands, knowing they were places of great population. But enough of Vanilla, there are many things I will miss from WOTLK.

I remember saving the world in Ulduar, stopping the destruction of beautiful Azeroth, I remember testing our might, courage and will power in the Crusaders Coliseum. I remember the first breath taking feeling I felt when stepping off the Zeppelin into a cold, forbiddening frozen wasteland, one of the most dangerous places on Azeroth. I remember traveling around the country side, for the air was to cold for my flying mount to have developed a resistance to the cold, collecting herbs for the interesting concoctions I could brew, I remember Sea Turtles and Krakens, I remember dungeons, from the HOrrors of the Old Kingdom to the sheer disturbing factor of the Forge of Souls, the giant whirrling saw still scares me at night.

As we leave WOTLK I am interested in what everyone else will miss, what they will not care to remember and what they would have loved to been deleted from the game forever.

That's rather deep for a board dominated by contrarian jackasses, "worgens r teh fur cyber yifferz!111! make dem ugly!11! hatez furz!", and /b/ tards who found WoW.

My favorite moment had to be Ulduar. Arguably the best designed instance for the whole expansion.

Though I must admit, the gunship battle wins for best singular fight.

We aren't transitioning into Cataclysm fully, this is just the technical stuff, being the spells, UI enhancements, water engine, etc.

The world-shattering event is patch 4.0.3, that's in a couple of weeks.

I don't think I'll miss soul shards. At first, collecting them was sort of cool, especially since with my lock I did a ton of PvP as I leveled. I wasn't just killing my opponents, I was collecting a souvenir when I did so. I liked that aspect of it, as roleplay-wise it was just really very fitting for a pissed-off Forsaken warlock. Eventually they really started to pile up in my inventory, though, and I began to feel like the things that required them to use were sort of arbitrary. Healthstones and such I understand, summoning another living person using the soul of somebody I killed, not so much. When I found out the interface was changing I had my own private spazzing-out session in /g. I was really excited.

I'm also definitely going to miss the Tuskaar when I don't spend all my time in Northrend. I'll admit that I only started playing WoW a year ago, so I wasn't around for the progression from Azeroth to Outland and then on to the frozen north. I spend more time in Northrend than anywhere else, because at the moment it's the most lucrative and developed place to be. Meeting the Walrus Guys was fun for me because I like seeing the factions that are neutral to both Horde and Alliance, as well as people who just like fishing. My troll shaman got along with them great, or so I like to think. I'll probably sail to Northrend and visit them once in a while, just to say hi. Yes, I'm a sap like that.

    I stopped reading right there.

I have no nostalgia for WotLK. I have nostalgia of Vanilla, and the first few months of BC. >_>

Believe it or not, I'll miss Naxxramas.
I wasn't raiding in Vanilla so I never got to experience it then. While most say it was 'easy', I loved a lot of the fights and the models used for the trash and bosses were awesome.

I remember the safety dance, best fight ever. Thrym's fight was fun too.

But is that how it always happens, In two years when we are fighting Saregras or maybe Ashazra you will look back on WOTLK and say "Those were the good old days" Its human nature to eventually develop nostalgia for something, some longer than others. For me its not very long, sometimes the day after some event occurs.

While I am aware that the Shattering wont be till 4.0.3, its the number that really hit me. 3.3-4.0 A fresh start, a new beginning a new chance for everything.

    Considering I left after a few months out of boredom, no, I don't think I will. >_>;

I just recently came back due to Cataclysm and 4.0. There was very little to do in WotLK unless you were a raider. The LFG tool made things way too easy. :P

I will miss WoTLK too , and especially the old world. They both had many, many downsides, but I think the good in both outweighed that. R.I.P. "Old Azeroth" and populated Northrend. You will be missed

Greatest expansion of all time? Are you kidding me? If I didn't know you were trying to talk nostalgia and use a play on words, I'd seek out professional help for ya, buddy. I will not miss WotLK. It was over-hyped by a long-shot, and had one good raid, Ulduar. Ulduar will probably also be the only one of all the WotLK raids I'll ever return to.
    "A flower.
Yes. Upon your return, I will gift you a beautiful flower."

I will miss the awesome feeling of cold when I was in the Storm Peaks, killing all kinds of iron dwarves and learning of the dwarves' origins. The empty feeling of the various temples where Thorim, Loken, Freya, Hodir, Mimiron, and Tyr were once stationed. The sheer height of the temple of storms. I will miss the music of the grizzly hills, and the feeling of being in the pacific northwest with the grizzlies and the logging.

I will tell you one thing, though, that I will not miss. Icecrown Glacier zone. The insane amount of undead there. The obscene amount of 5-man group quests and elites roaming that place. If not for getting loremaster, unlocking Shadow Vault, Crusader's Pinnacle, and the easy tourney dailies, I would never set foot in that zone ever again.

I like how people think the old world is changing still.

Like, for this patch, the only things I'm going to miss are Starfall being any decent, and 15 second CD on DnD.
