It struck me today while watching the loading bar. This is it, the big patch going from WOTLK to Cataclysm, it was a long period, but it felt like a short time for the expansion, so many fond memories, so many interesting achivments, so many friends made, enemies destroyed and characters created and long deleted.
Ah yes, WOTLK, soon to be considered the Greatest Expansion of all time after 6 months of Cataclysm, and it will make some of us nostalgic, Nostalgic for the serene yet calming scenery, for the legions of undead we destroyed over and over again, and for the peaceful denizens such as the Walrus People and the friendly Kavdirs. And yet, as I am, I was Nostalgic for the period before BC, as I was only 14 when I started playing this game, I feel great pangs of nostalgia for places such as Sithilus, Winterspring and Arathi Highlands, knowing they were places of great population. But enough of Vanilla, there are many things I will miss from WOTLK.
I remember saving the world in Ulduar, stopping the destruction of beautiful Azeroth, I remember testing our might, courage and will power in the Crusaders Coliseum. I remember the first breath taking feeling I felt when stepping off the Zeppelin into a cold, forbiddening frozen wasteland, one of the most dangerous places on Azeroth. I remember traveling around the country side, for the air was to cold for my flying mount to have developed a resistance to the cold, collecting herbs for the interesting concoctions I could brew, I remember Sea Turtles and Krakens, I remember dungeons, from the HOrrors of the Old Kingdom to the sheer disturbing factor of the Forge of Souls, the giant whirrling saw still scares me at night.
As we leave WOTLK I am interested in what everyone else will miss, what they will not care to remember and what they would have loved to been deleted from the game forever.
