Once again about current class imbalances

I'll try to make this short, just something based on personal experience I got today.

I play as a hunter. I do PvP, mostly BG. Decent gear atm. Since 4.0.1 epic fail in case of my, hmmm..., "power level". Before patch I was fine.

Now here is funny thing. Today I was at friends house. He plays as several classes. One of them a mage. PvP gear a mix of relentless and wrathful. I asked him if I can make a few WSG to try it out how strong mages really are. From two specs he had I picked arcane. Long story short, I completly pwned on all 3 random WSG I got. The thing is, I never ever played a 80 mage before. I didnt used any custom keybinds, just 1-2-3-4. It was not even my keyboard, not my mouse. Different PC etc. I was just pressing buttons and people exploded. Now I'm back at my house, just did a BG with my hunter. And I'm in trauma. I still remember what I did 3h ago with a mage (first time controling a mage ever) and I want to cry when I compare that to my main character with which I'm accustomed since several years.

    This. Is. Just. Sad.

Once again gonna say that although it kinda sucks (not for me because my main is a mage ) classes are balanced around level 85 and as such quit your QQ about certain classes until Cataclysm hits and we see them at level 85

From what i've heard from beta testers, lvl 85 isn't even slightly balanced.

    I'll finish your sentence.

"are OP from 1-79 and then turn UP when hitting 80, nice scaling Blizzard".

If you honestly think Blizzard is trying to secure monthly subscriptions by purposely unbalancing the classes to bank on players rolling alts; i would seriously be concerned about you walking around in public spaces without supervision.

There is zero real benefit. The entire player base would be far more happy if they considered the classes balanced. Your argument assumes that a large enough percentage of the player base only want to play the game provided they play an OP class. Most people i know would rather stop playing the game entierly then roll a new toon and level it to 80, and gear it, if they felt their current main was gimped to the point of ineffectiveness.

Also, on this point, the overall notion that Blizzard is some dubious villain masquerading as a game developer who's goal is maximum profit while going out of their way to spite their own customer base is simply absurd beyond reason.

I got critted by an Arcane Mage for 10k 3 times in a row and in under 3 sec.

Oh, did I say I had Survival Instincts active?

Yes, Mages are insane. What do you do about it? Nothing.
And as many times as it has been said, spells are indeed balanced for level 85. This doesn't mean that things will be balanced at 85, but it will be better, for sure.

So, uhm... You decided to make a thread about a topic you know have been beaten to death AND account sharing?

I fail to see the relevance here, as both are just plain stupid. There's enough threads about the lack of balance (I play all classes at 80 and I agree that some suck hard while others have been turned into WTFPWNING machines), but you saying you shared an account is just.... No.

And look at what that mage had to do to hit you 3 times in "3" seconds. A pve hasted Arcane Blast cast time is 2ish seconds so assuming you are ignoring those two seconds that you allowed him to free cast on, then he PoM for the instant Arcane Blast to a 1.5sec GCD, to a Arcane Barrage which activates it 5 sec CD.

    Is it bursty? Yes.
Did you allow him to free cast the first Arcane Blast? Yes
Did he have to to blow a minute and a half CD(PoM) to hit you like that? Yes
Did you shift to bear form? God I hope
And if you did then you likely had enough health to survive in which case the mage began casting another 2sec cast which you let him do? Probably because you are slow.
Was this mage in Pve gear? Most likely judging by the damage. That or some rookie allowed the mage to 4 stack Arcane Blast and then free cast on you.

Extra Credit: How squishy is a arcane mage in pve gear?

    Yea, that squishy.

    Yes. Mages are currently OP.
Yes. I do in fact play a mage, I have 3, though non are my main.
No. Just because it is balanced at 85 is no excuse for live content to be broken.
Cata is no more relevant then Wrath. We pay for Wrath and Wrath is currently live. That is the difference.

What he said (about Blizzard unbalancing with premeditation) is perhaps a bit too far-fetched. But I sometimes do wonder why it takes Blizzard so long to at least attempt to balance certain things. Yes, they do sometimes act fast but this also makes me wonder why they cant work like that on more occasions. If I would be someone responsible for balance of something as big as WoW, I would be deploying minor hotfixes every week (changing coefficients, skill properties etc.) until I would be sure I dont have any other idea how to make things even more balanced. If nerfing/buffing some things now would destroy the balance at 85, then fine, hotfix it now and then revert the fix in the middle of december. There are dozens of small things Blizzard could do to improve current balance and I will not buy the fact that those require a lot of work to implement. Seriously, there should be a task team in Blizzard only responsible for monitoring class balance (both PvE and PvP) and rolling number fixes pretty much during the entire year and not by the rule of "wait for next major content patch".
