    Windows 7 + Drivers 27GB?

    Okey, so i just got my SSD and installed my Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and the drivers. And it's at mindblowing 27gb? Is this right? I thought it would be alot less

    Disabled the Hibernate feature wich put me at 21.3 GB

    Halp?!

    Ultimate is always going to be big, as it has multiple languages.

    -> 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit).

    And that's without any updates - languages are installed only on demand from Windows Update.

    U MAD BRO? Be careful when messing with the future.. that's heavy stuff man.

    OT; 20gb is absolutely normal today, it's not 1995 anymore... we're in the future now.. now that you messed with the continuum!

    Change pagefile smaller, depending on how much RAM you have. With 4GB you could set both minimum-maximum to 2GB, and with more RAM set min-max to 512MB.

    Ultimate is estimated to be able to take almost 200GB...192 to be exact.

    Umm, he meant disk usage, not maximum RAM capability.

    My windows map only is already ~18gb, that is without users, programfiles etc

    Part of this is due to Windows 7 caching copies of all the different versions of ddls and such used by different programs. And it keeps these around, linked around so it can run programs with fewer issues supposedly. So the folder does tend to grow over time, even if you don't install anything else to that particular drive. Also selecting the windows folder itself and looking at the space used is sometimes a bit off due to all the linking. You need to look at the drive itself to see the correct free space.

    EDIT: My windows folder only takes up 14GB, x64 Ultimate as well.

    My Win 7 64 partition is only 12GB. No hibernation, no pagefile, no safety restore function.

    So what your saying, is that 27GB is normal from a fresh install? With 1 user and drivers installed.

    Get TreeSize Free http://www.jam-software.com/freeware/ and scan the partition to find what is taking space outside of the Windows folder.
