Less Valor points from raids available when 4.1 is released?

Blizzard has stated that the Firelands raid will have 7 bosses.

Currently there are 14 bosses that are a source of Valor. The 14 bosses are spread across 4 raid dungeons (including BH)

I assume that Baradin Hold will have a new boss when 4.1 is released, but not confirmed (I don't think).

So, 7 new bosses are confirmed, but this number will most likely be 8. We also have our daily heroic source of Valor points.

Any thoughts?


TL;DR - 14 bosses available now that drop valor. 8 bosses in 4.1 that will drop valor. What will make up for the gap?

think not, since we will move in tiers that T11 will probably drop JP

Would not make sense, as that would mean that you could buy 372(?) gear by doing 359 content.

Only one raid has been announced. Blizzard had said a while before Cata that they would like to go with multiple smaller raids per tier instead of one big one.

Blizzard has stated that their philosophy with Cataclysm is to have more raids per tier than previously.

They don't want us having to raid JUST Ulduar or Trial of Crusader or ICC week after week. They want multiple settings.

That's why we have two main raids and two smaller raids this tier.


My question is, is Blizzard already backing out of this thought or have they just not announced a 2nd/3rd accompanying raid?

Firelands will not be the only raid in 4.1. There has to be an unknown raid of similar size or Blizzard's whole things about encounters per content patch was a total lie that took them all of one content patch to lie about. Unless Firelands is significantly larger, which also breaks their thing about not wanting to do huge raid instances early in an expansion, there has to be another raid in the works for 4.1. If Firelands is the only raid it is going to be arguably the worst content patch to date. 7 bosses+1 BH boss for 5-6 months? And we though a year of ICC with at least being able to do two lockouts per toon was bad.

My guess is they just haven't announced it yet. They have barely even announced Firelands. They have shown a rough map, some concept art, the approximate number of bosses, and we know Rag is the last boss. That is it.

Need I remind you of the Argent Tourney? That was probably the weakest content patch ever. More then likely there will be another small raid to go with it. I think they stated at one point they'd plan on doing multiple instances per content. In this case multiple being two to three (excluding Baradin Hold).

I remember blizz talking about adding new 5 mans to each major patch. And those 5 mans will probably be harder then original 5 mans and there for will maybe give valor points, at least very likely they will drop 359 gear (but ofc that won't be valor gear, rather it will be the weaker points (that I can't remember what's called atm).

Since there's been no formal announcement on 4.1 since Blizzcon it would be safe to assume no one knows. Blizzard hasn't said yet whether this new model was a success or not yet.

That was at the very end of the expansion, right before a new expansion drops most of the high end stuff becomes available to the masses. It's not like you could get full t7 by running heroics for a day.

So, rather than blowing 3k JP on 20 herbs, I'd suggest just sitting at cap until 4.1. Even if you have all your valor upgrades, many of those items are BoE, so you could sell em.

4.1 is still quite a while away. Sitting at the JP cap is just giving away free gold...

Abyssal Maw is a confirmed 5-man dungeon, not a raid.
