What do people have against 12-14 year olds?

i myself am 13, and ive been playing since i was eight. but whenever i see people whining or trolling people always seem to respond "what are you twelve?"
and i to be honest think this is unfair. I know a large proportion of 12-14 year olds are annoying imature idiots but people need to stop genralising. I also find people are less willing to be in a group/raid with some one who is twelve/thirteen. What are your thoughts on this?

Use proper spelling and grammar, always be polite, don't rage and such.
Then they never suspect you're actually 10+ years younger than them.

The 12+ label is not a law, it is a suggestion that is required by all game/film makers to stop 10 year olds buying a 18+ game. and the only thing i can think of that makes WoW a 12+ game is the war elemant and Moonguard US

There's no prejudice against people 12 - 14. It's anyone below 18... sheesh.

The thing you have to think about though, is how often do you go down town or to the park and see 25 year olds hanging out with 15 year olds? Unless they're related in some way, people don't tend to stray out of their age groups like that anywhere, why should it be different ingame?

This pretty much... Some 13 years olds are quite mature in their behavior in games, some aren't. In the other hand, I've known a lot of imature idiots, wich were like 20 years old.

Odd, most "adults" behave just like 12 year olds in this game, so I don't know what everyone else is saying. I generally call people 12 if they are retarded and this has nothing to do with their chronological age.

Around the initial teen ages, everyone is prone to 'rebel' tendancies, they want to play the game how they want to play it which brings problems for raid leaders. Young players can also be very naive when it comes to certain aspects of the game, often those in guild chat such as adult humor or sarcasm - this creates problems for guild masters, especially if the young player is from a different country than the majority of the guild. I'm also unsure about how progressed the english language is for younger players who play on english speaking realms but do not come from countries which have English as the 1st language , this makes it even more difficult as you have a language barrier involved (although older players can have the same problem).

Then of course there is the problem of Homework, School, Parents etc etc.

Its based on stereotyping. People would rather embrace the accepted preconceptions then judge each individual based on their own behavior. Its kind of ironic since most of todays players have been playing video games since they were 12-14 and would never classify themselves as being that way when they were young. It makes them feel good to think they are past the age of being immature despite the fact that we all know atleast one person who proves that age is no indication of your personality or maturity level.

While not every kid is terrible at this game, a much larger percentage is bad than slightly older age groups. Also, no matter how good you may be, there's still the maturity factor. We pugged a rogue for our 10th slot in our weekly BWD run, he turned out to be 12 and we had to deal with him making 12 year old jokes the whole time and try to tell us his strategies on every boss... Most groups won't be as nice as we were to him, which is sad... but that's the reason people don't like playing with kids.

Well you said it yourself. A large proportion of 15- players are annoying and immature. But it is not that people assume you are annoying because you are 12ish, it is the other way around most of the time: People assume that you are 12 yo when you act immature. So if you act mature, which is what I'm getting from your post, there is usually no need to mention you are 13 yo and people won't have any problem with it.
