i hope it's not already mentioned on mmo, but i found an very interesting article about blizzard AND their nwe gig "titan".

WoW won't die, but content patches will become less frequent and smaller. WoW still has at least another 10 years in it (yes, be realistic, even old old MMOs like Ragnarok and EQ are still alive, even though the communities are tiny).

I imagine they will start merging servers when Titan is about to release (released) and sustain both games. The amount of necessary subscribers to make things profitable isn't that high if they start to cut things down.

titan is a MMOFPS. different people will be drawn to it than WoW which is an MMORPG.
they are merely forecasting it will be bigger then WoW on account that both FPSs and MMOs pull large numbers of players, combined it should be a juggernaut.

Where did you get that? Where has it been stated that "Titan" is an MMOFPS?

i actually don't think that titan will be a MMOFPS... that doenst fit in blizzards product-range.

Show me the source for this "fact". There hasn't been a single news about "Titan" and people just think that it's an MMOFPS. Show us the source.

The thing that we hope will happen is that it will not stop World of Warcraft but we believe will eclipse it.

That sums it up. Blizzard don't intend to kill WoW for this other game, but they expect it will be more popular. In all honesty that works just fine. Those who like it can go to it, those who prefer WoW can stay. The community may shrink and you will eventually stop seeing as many active servers (maybe even a decline?) but it will go on for a while.

Even UO still has an active fanbase, and that game seems like it's hundreds of years old.

I assume Titan is being designed with the NextGen consoles in mind. That would support all the FPS theories out there.

However Blizzard:
-Has very limited experience developing for consoles (even with Diablo 3 being adapted for consoles).
-Has no experience programming FPS.
-Has a huge fanbase, mostly used to RTS and RPGs.

So in a way....maybe not. Who knows...By BlizzCon 2012 we'll know more.

i dont see any advantage of an MMOFPS. if it would be like oblivion it would be anything new and "awesome" like mentioned in the interview

I read somewhere that Bungie is working on an MMOFPS and they're partnered with Activison-Blizzard currently. Blizzard's next gen MMO is described to be an MMOFPS as well.

I wonder where they're going with this.

Bungie is currently in a 10-year publishing agreement with Activision Blizzard, so presumably Destiny will be published by the company. Last year, Blizzard's Rob Pardo applauded the idea of a Bungie MMO, although he refused to comment on a collaboration between the two studios.

Yeah, that's Blizzard's new MMOFPS and I might have hinted at that in the past but I don't have a lot of extra information about it and the release date is just an estimation. Don't assume that it will be released by the end of 2013 based on that document, it would be very stupid. (Edit: Titan is a new game by the way, not an existing IP. There are several hints towards the theory that a Halo MMO is being developed either by Blizzard or Bungie. But the reality is that at least by those two studios it's not happening. Why, you ask? Because it is already verified by Blizzard officials that their new MMO is a brand new IP and is made entirely from scratch.


GM respond regarding Titan been an 'old-projekt' they picked up.

That's 5 RTS games and what.... 4 or 5 expansions to them? And you're saying it would be pointless to do "more of the same" ?

A proper MMORPG would target a much greated audience than a MMOFPS, Blizzard knows it, I know it, you know it but propably will still deny it. Deal with it.

Probably best if you leave that kind of stuff for Blizzard and just focus on playing

Titan is gona be MMOFPS, read that somewhere like zillion times, but couldnt find, also it's MMOFPS is propobly becouse of ActivisioN, since ActivisioN mostly supported shooters :/
