Should I buy an Xbox 360 or a Playstation 3?

As of today knowing what you know about both the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 which one would you recommend I buy?

PS3: -The reason I would want the PS3 is because of the extras that have nothing to do with gaming like the Web Browser, the Blu-ray Player, Life with Playstation and the other little cool features it has. Also the exclusives like MAG, Uncharted and Killzone are superior to the Xbox exclusives.

360 -For the 360 I prefer the overall gaming experience. They have a better Community, better Online and just a more polished gaming experience if we are to be completely honest. Cross game voice chat, more fluid controls and a more competitive playerbase over more games etc.

Now my question is:
Are the non-gaming related extras on the PS3 worth getting it over the 360 ?
or
is the whole point of a console to play video games hence I should get the 360 instead?

I went with the xbox, mainly because it was ALOT cheaper than the ps3, and i never liked the playstation controls

but both consoles are great, but i prefer xbox live than Psn, xbox just seems a little more competitive and active, but thats just me

First thing if your into the whole sims social thing PS3 Home is quite fun but yes a console is really for gaming, well i think so, but some peopel prefer the games on Ps3 to xbox ( exclusives ), but overall xbox 360 i believe has a better variety of games

i'm also currently wondering something similar. the thing is, i hate the Xbox control system, but i lost a lot of trust in sony with their recent PSN failure.

As a PS3 owner id say buy a 360

PS3 are by no means crap but after playing on my friends 360 I prefer the Xbox alot more (better pads,superior online play)

The only real thing PS3 wins on for me is the fact that it comes with a Blu Ray player,apart from that id pick a 360 every time.

I decided myself not to buy any consoles anymore, the games are way too expensive IMO (60 euros for mafia2 which i finished in 6 hours ><) and I prefer to get a high end pc

If I were to choose, I'ld pick ps3 because it has blu-ray, but I'ld at least wait till the next console generation

If you want to play online you do not even have a choice Xbox Live > PSNetwork, And that has nothing to do with recent events it is how it always is. But if you dont give a shit about playing online then the PS3 is worth a mention.

Xbox is cheaper and has better pads. I have had my Xbox for 4 years now with no problems, it has been used as my DVD player every single day.

PS3 for Blu-Ray and Web Browsing. Also, who doesn't want to ghost Linux OS onto it? The Credit Card Info Leak was a targeted set-up by Anon, and they didn't even get card numbers. As for the online gaming, people who pay for X-Box must not understand that the majority of games are peer-to-peer hosted, there's no servers so their money is going right to VoiP chat, which isn't worth $10-15 a month when there's free alternatives with better quality.

Another alternative is to wait for the new Nintendo that is supposedly being released at the end of this year/start of next.

It's going to be unveiled at this years E3 and from the rumours it sounds really good (6 inch hi def screen in the pads to stream online content)

Get what your friends have, their both about equal, but they are both a lot worse if used by yourself, and not in preset multiplayer groups
