Populated towns and populated roads are both found at:

What would be the "Best" weapon/armor to focus on?
    You're sweating it too much.

Pick up a sword (or an ax, or a mace, or a spell) and go kill stuff and do quests and do what you want. It's an open ended game that I've sunk hundreds of hours into before running out of non-repeatable content. Do whatever quests you feel like in whatever order. The necessary people for quests are (usually) unkillable (with the exception of some minor quests) and there's no specific order in which you have to do quest chains. You can finish the main story line in about 10 hours, but the rest of the game continues on for . . . eternity.

For example, I've been playing it a lot again for some reason. I'm at ~50 hours played (second playthrough, first was ~200 hours) and I still haven't finished the main quest, the thieves guild, the dark brotherhood, the companions, the college of winterhold (which even non mages can do), Dawnguard (DLC) or Dragonborn (DLC) or any of the many daedric quests. Basically, I've started everything and finished nothing. And I'm level 30.

    But to answer your questions:

    1. Your capacity to carry is based on your stamina, and any active strength pots, and strength-enchanted items. I'll pick up everything that's worth its weight. Gems, jewelry, of course I pick it up. Weapons and armor, if I'm not planning on wearing it, I won't pick it up unless its enchanted, or if its elven or better (generally at elven the price of unenchanted goods starts getting worth the weight. If you want to carry more, I suggest the Bandoliers Bags and Pouches mod. Craftable and lootable pouches that you can wear to increase capacity.

    2. Aside from what I said above, pick up plants and fungus and alchemy stuff. Pick up food and cook better food. Mine the mines. Get a house, ASAP (the one in Whiterun costs 5000 gold and can be acquired quickly, in the meanwhile, once you've killed your first dragon, you'll get Lydia and she can hold some of your stuff even when she's not actively following you.

    3. Whatever you do, do not go to the top of a mountain and spawn thousands of cabbages via the console command. This may cause a landslide and kill unsuspecting villagers! There really isn't much that you "shouldn't" do, aside from getting caught committing crimes.

    4. Best armor? Eh, save your dragon bones and scales and make dragon bone (heavy) or scale (light) armor

Oh and a few tips: Save often. I've had bad experiences with random crashes to desktop. And even if not, well, the horse frequently dies when going down a hill (note to self, walk, don't gallop) or in the Reach and it's 1000g to replace it. You also never know when a dragon (and vampires if you have dawnguard) will attack either.

Go dungeon-diving for shouts early on. The Greybeards will help you locate them. Shouts like Whirlwind Sprint can be used safely in villages (though the guards get annoyed) and that'll trigger a courier to show up with a letter for another shout location. Shouts are generally found at dragon roosts or in draugr caves, so look there first. But beware of dragon priests, they can be a bitch to kill at lower levels.

Magic resist is your friend! If you aren't a nord, get jewelry or shields with fire and frost resist because the dragons are either fire or frost. If you are a nord, your racial (frost resistence) is pretty hefty on its own, but even so, a little extra can't hurt. Shock is a good resist to have, especially if you're a mage (shock does health and magicka damage) but I don't think there's a shock dragon.

Once you have a good stash of good arrows and the capital to buy more, dump your weakest arrows because if you run out of your best arrows, instead of going to your second best, it'll go straight to the worst arrows. For example, I won't carry anything weaker than Steel arrows right now and drop any iron or ancient nord arrows I find.

Finally, kill Heimskr, the annoying priest in Whiterun. Its totally worth it to not hear him screaming about Talos in Whiterun.

Personally, I mapped out my objectives fairly early on. I think it went something like this:

    1) Go city by city. A city wasn't "complete" in my mind until I could own a house there (if possible). I had like 9 houses by the end or something, I was ballin. My favorite was the Arch-Mage's quarters, though, that fucking garden was pimp.

    2) Guild quests/storylines. I started with the guilds that made most sense for my character. I went mage, so I went with the Wizard's College first, the Companions in Whiterun was actually one of the ones I did last.

    3) Shout completion via dungeon diving.

    4) Main storyline.

    5) Empire/rebellion storyline.

    6) Get married.

Level your stealth and then go through the game stalking and killing all the females in the game, make sure you get 'deadly mutilation' mod so you can dismember the bodies and take the heads on to display around the house. That's what i assumed was the first thing to do anyway.

To add to what has already been said,

Pick a direction and just go. That's what the game world is built for. You can follow quests or you can wander the landscape and reach level 50+ without touching the main questline. There are many story quests to find in addition to the main questline which can be picked up by talking to NPCs or opening certain books. There's also a class of randomly spawning quests from innkeepers, stewards and certain guild members which pay you for hunting down a designated NPC or acquiring some object.

There's two wikis for Skyrim and the Elder Scrolls games in general. The first is much older and tends to have better story information while the second tends to have better images.

Carry weight is viewable in your inventory, it will be in the lower-right area of your screen. Your armor rating will appear in the same area when viewing the armor portion of your inventory. Increasing your stamina increases carry weight.

Personally I pick up only gear I will use or want to display plus items with low weight and high value like potions, gems, jewelry and some books. There are many, many items you can pick up but which serve no purpose beyond decorating the area like the 'linen wraps' ubiquitous in tombs.

Within town limits, if you attack anything which didn't attack you first or get caught stealing you can expect to be attacked. Your crimes are only known to the guards of a given region, for example if you rack up a bounty in Whiterun the guards of Windhelm won't know about it.

Statwise dragonbone/dragonscale weapons and armor are the best with daedric being a close second but by the time you're approaching level 50 it doesn't make a lot of difference what material you're using, your skill and enchantments are doing most of the work. Also, armor caps out at 80% damage reduction which corresponds to a displayed armor rating of 500-something and that can be achieved wearing lower tier armor once your armor skill is sufficiently high. As for armor type, initially heavy armor slows your run speed and provides more protection than light armor but both can eventually achieve the armor cap.

Any advices and Tips from veteran Skyrim people would be much appriciated

Its hard to do at first, but I would suggest really immersing yourself in the game world. By that I mean, imagine you are your character and think about what they would do. Would they hang out in Riverwood or Whiterun, would they talk to everyone? Would they be interested in going on pilgrimages to visit shrines or if they heard of a guild would they be interested in joining their ranks? Would you be seduced by the Daedra once you encounter them and become obsessed with finding all their artifacts for your own nefarious goals, or maybe ridding the world of them?

There is so much to do, and its easy to fall into the trap of just doing things for completion. For me, the first full play through was just to unlock all the achievements and do all the main storyline as well as all the primary guild quests. Now I play just for the immersion and let the game take me places very naturally.

As for modding...here are 2 helpful links to get started:
    http://www.tesgeneral.com/#!essential/cs1p
    http://www.tesgeneral.com/#!ehh/c1587

...actually just look at anything and everything from http://www.tesgeneral.com/ .

Again, that is the tip of the iceberg as far as modding your game. However, I wouldn't suggest going too deep into modding until you've completed the game. Sometimes new mods will require fresh games to work properly, or may cause issues with existing save games. For that first playthrough when you want to do everything in the vanilla game, its best to keep things simple. Go crazy afterwards because that adds hundreds of hours of enjoyment to the game.

You can open up the console with " ' ". Then type in "showracemenu". Hit " ' " again to close the console. Adjust hair as needed.

Alternatively, if you like immersion, you can DL a barber shop here: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/31030/?

What you have there are mod categories, they function like a regular folder in Windows. Just double-click to expand and then you can select the mod itself & activate.

With the NMM, double click on the mod within the file to activate or deactivate it (it will show with either a Green Check Mark next to the name or a Red X. Alternatively, you can highlight the mod and click on the Icon in the left column with the Blue Puzzle Icon with the Green plus to activate it.

What video are you watching btw? There are different Mod Managers out there and NMM has gone through several versions. You might be looking at an outdated video.
