What to buy first with VP tier 12 (Ret)

    http://us.battle.net/wow/en/characte...raelius/simple

Ya so I'm capped for the first week at 980 VP so if I was going to buy something now it would have to be the relic, which dumps some expertise (which I currently need badly seeing as how I'm at 38 expertise with the glyph, and that is with reforging all expertise).

I'm wondering what the best route to go for raiding ret paladins as far as spending valor points.Should we hold out for tier?take the bracers?get the relic first? If tier which pieces first

    go for tier imo

If you have 38 exp with the glyph, why not drop the glyph?

Imho, always go for the relics, for all classes. Relics do not drop from raids, so there is no better item. Making the new valor relic immediatly BiS.
Gloves, tier pieces, bracers and everything has a chance of dropping.

Tier gloves, or get relic + wait to get tier legs. Also buy BoE bracers with an alt.

Relic of course. You don't have to buy chest (BiS chest is offset piece), you have a chance to loot tier gloves/legs from Baradin Keep, you should keep your ring from Sinestra and have a chance to loot Alystrazor ring making badge ring useless, neck have that goddamn expertise on it, and you should buy your bracers with an alt if you don't have bracers from Sinestra. If you don't have a ring from Sinestra, then a choice is between ring and relic. Ring has expertise, relic doesn't have it - so the choice is obvious.

I'll be buying the boe bracers on my alt later, and i'm saving up for the tier legs. Since I like the four piece too much I might as well hang onto it as long as I can until I start swapping out gear. Plus i'll fill out with 365s/378s until my guild is going 7/7 in firelands.

Then again double two set pieces might look pretty good with the buff to inquistion until you get the four piece.

The ring has crit and haste, not expertise.

I would get Chest or legs first depending on gearset or if your trying to use apparatus. With my current setup, I'm getting Chest because I've already upgraded both trinkets and if Maw alystrazor helm drops I'm going to be hurting for expertise as all other items are reforged towards mastery and hit.

This is always one of my fav topics when new patch comes
Usualy going for tier chest first is no brainer, because you cant get it from BH like legs and hands, and it doesnt drop from boss like head and shoulders, but considering this it looks like chest will be one which we will not wear, i'm still not sure which way to go...
I thought a bit about ring, but considering we will prolly wear alysrazor and rep ones, it would be waste of valor just for two-three week upgrade, so i'll prolly go for hands first, unless something changes with BIS gear set up and we end up using tier chest.

I think I'll go with tier first, hands and legs since they are the only pieces with mastery and the chest doesn't look that good tbh and it's the lowest upgrade for my setup. And this way I'll still be able to maintain 2 2-set bonuses while waering my 372 chest.

And like everyone else, bracers with an alt tomorrow.

Chest is actually the First item you should buy and set aside, Remove HoR and T11 helm / relic and you'll be begging for that expertise.

@ Anaxie , i thought 2-3 weeks before geting ring from alysrazor (depends ofc how do you stand on dkp, or with loot council favor ), not exalted ring

Yeah offset helm is really awesome in stats, but looks of the tier helm is must have :P , but yeah on serious note, both helm and gloves offset are quite good, and with reforging there will be maybe more then 1 way to get near BIS unless everything is farmed up.

I have alystrazor ring and I'm still going for chest slot first. And no Helm Tier isn't a must. It depends on how you build your gearset and if you're building it around apparatus.

Am I missing something important about expertise here? To the best of my knowledge, we should shoot for 16 expertise (481 rating) + glyph. Anything beyond that is better off being reforged into mastery or crit, whatever applies to that piece. Did that change? If not, expertise shouldn't be that much of an issue - I reached that cap long before even hit cap at 85, and have been forging it off my gear ever since.

this May come as a surprize, but different tiers have different itemization.

Chest isn't part of the BiS set so I wouldn't waste it on it. I'd have to agree with Megramm on getting the relic first and then the ring and after that in the weeks waiting for the VP to get legs you might get lucky and get the gloves or even the legs from BH.

No, that isn't surprising. What is surprising is that people seem to be so very concerned about the easiest stat to cap. 481 rating is really not difficult. Now if every last piece of 365+ gear is expertise-free, then I'd understand. I highly doubt Blizzard would completely omit a stat from an entire tier however. With pieces generally having 120 - 220 points of (insert rating here), it doesn't take much to comfortably reach cap.
