Fun? 16 hours a day, everyday was fun? Back then we had 3 guys rotating on one toon to try and farm GM. We only got Field Marshal. Biggest waste of time ever.

Got to rank 10 with Mage and Rogue. If I only sticked with my Mage (Main) I might've made it. I still regret it today.

Getting R14 wasn't too hard just required a lot of dedication and a good team. Luckily for me I had the best team in our battlegroup. <3

Playing Warsong Gulch for 16 hours a day for nearly 6 weeks to get from Marshal to Grand Marshal was a pain though.


Still miss the old Horde teams we fought... well the one team we actually fought (<3 Iknowuwantme) and the other who just level exploited and still lost (We still <3 you Rotgut).

I had guy like this on my server, shared account with 3 friends playing 24 hours a day literally. I still was making mroe honor than him even tough i didnt play whole day... I simply had a premade ~~

1 of my friends palyed just 4-6 hours a day or so and he still got field marshal...

I myself had r14 warrior
and rank 11 warlock

sold the acocunt in tbc... gave me all the money i invested in wow back with some bonus. I actually upgraded my pc, bought new wow and still had some cash left ;o

It did absolutely not matter, what class you play. You needed a (semi)good group, that was dedicated to grind with you+ pass rank1 of honor gained each week for you.

OT: Only reached rank 6, pvp wasn't really my thing, and still isnt! And I only decided to reach rank 6 becos I was so curious about that instanced room that requiered rank 6 to enter (where the pvp armor was sold iirc).

I never account shared for Grand Marshal, yes it was grindy as fuck, but seriously if three of you couldn't do it together you didn't deserve the title. We also had a Horde warrior trying 24 hour farming with his friends, he started long before I did and I still beat him to it (not even sure he made it before 2.0.1). Hell I soloed to Rank 10 without trying. I just took over Alterac Valley games and played them like my own first personal Warcraft III games .

Getting Grand Marshal in classic was less about your abilities as an individual (although they played a part), and more your ability to organise, command and control your team. Kind funny, that's how it is for real, the highest rank awarded for commanding your troops the best...
