Demo's Doomguard bug

So a guildie has been having his Domoguard hit for 35k and crit for 72k on the dummy this evening. I tried it out on my alt Lock (who is Affli) and it was hitting for ~7k or so. This leads me to believe it's a bug with Demo Mastery. For the record, I've seen the recount and he does over 40k DPS on the dummy with Doomguard up so it's either the real thing or perhaps a strange combat log issue.

Anyone else seen this - And is it truly a bug?

Think the doomguard triple dips (or something along those lines) from the Demo mastery.

Yes it's common knowledge that the doomguard triple dips into demo's mastery. When used with Moonwell Chalice and Meta it's not uncommon to see the doomguard do over a million damage in the time it's up.

Yes its a bug, its gaining triple the bonus of your current mastery. its well known (so no doubt known by blizzard) but they seem to be ignoring it for now. It will probably be fixed in 4.3

doom guard gain 6% damage per point of mastery instead of 2 as well as double benefit from 10% sp

Not sure when it first showed up. It had to be in 4.1 or 4.2 or we would have seen a lot more demo locks in T11 other than the ones that were there for the buff.

I'm fairly certain it's been around for a while, but nobody quite figured it out until people had done extensive testing with theralions mirror, and it's only widely known now because of the moonwell chalice.

It may be a bug but it's the only thing keeping demo competitive as a raidspec so when they do fix it, they'd better buff something else. I don't want to play the snorefest that is afflict.

my 370 demo lock does roughly the same as our 360 feral witought the DG (~22K ish) and 3-5 K (27K-ish) more with the DG up . withough DG (which is allready on a 10 mins CD andnot available for every boss try) demo locks are once again not as compettitive as other DPS/specs .

Yes, the Doomguard does stupid good damage with the Demo mastery + stacking Int/Spellpower buffs.

My DG was doing 21.6k dps while it was active. Click on the arrow next to my name (Democles) to see it. He did 1.25 million damage overall.

Yeah mine does about 1.1-1.3M nowadays, easily the difference between #1 and #13th on the meters.

Mine did 1.4M on Shannox this week, heh - that's 24k DPS while he was active.

Its been around since 4.1, if not earlier. There was less demo locks last tier because sims hadnt taken this into account until recently, but the few who were still raiding were seeing good numbers, and often were beating the sims.

That, and recount hadn't been properly taking many pets into consideration, including Doomguard, when looking at someone else's lock or sham or hunter in your raid, which has since been fixed. Hence why the lock could show 24k on argolath on his own recount, and the ret pally only saw him as 20k.

Not a helpful post, considering this was not the case until about 3 versions of recount after 4.1 was released. The same was true for WoL and also applied to Shadowy Apparitions and other guardians (but not the Infernal). That the Infernal also did more damage for the other two specs also until that point meant Doomguards simply weren't used.

and the doomguard has its own demonic pact it doesn't stack with our regular one and the only bug would be that it takes snapshots of ur stats did the math with my volcano card and moonwell increase of mastery plujs my regular mastery which is at 34% and he is hitting how he's supposed to so I'm not sure where people r getting this been hearing this for a while

i knew it was really good when used with the moonwell chalice/theralion's mirror hc but i did not know it triple dipped. i guess that's why i was 4th on the BH boss behind our 3 locks as demo yesterday lol.

Recount was bugged until sometime after 4.1 and prior to that Recount wasn't including guardians on anyones recount other then your own. That includes Ret Paladins Guardian, Shadow Priests Apparations, Warlock Doomguards and Shaman Elementals.

The doomguard of the other demo warlock in your log has done half damage of yours (600k against 1.25M); both of you are equally geared and this seems a bit strange.
Can you ask him what he has done or hasn't done for reducing so much the dps of his doomguard?
