I love Mass effect 2, it might be a bit slow if you are not into reading and spending time on dialogues. The grinding of gasses and stuff from planets it pretty tedious. But otherwise an awesome game.
    Fallout: New Vegas.
I never got into Dragon age but a lot of people like both 1 and 2.

maybe check out Darkspore when it arrives, but check the reviews first

Try out Dragon Age and Dragon Age 2 (is it out yet? I think it is).

To be honest - if you're looking for a game similar to WoW, then it means you will likely come back. Every time I tried to quit, I was looking for a substitution, a game similar to WoW etc. which always ended up on playing WoW again. :P

I just invested $50 into Oblivion for the 360...

Just something to do when I need a break from the game. I hear it's good, but won't know till I try it.

Roll an alt and play less hardcore? Maybe level via herbalism/mining only or only by killing stuff, no quests or gathering professions.
I guess you want to much wow for another game to please. Just stick with wow and play in a different way for refreshing experience.

If you really want something new:
Beside the obvious already named games you could try Two Worlds 2.
Titan Quest is actually a good idea too. Especially if you liked Diablo and don't have anything against a greek mythology setting. Even though it's a couple of years old it still look nice I think. (played it again a few months ago and was shocked how awesome it still looked)

Elder Scroll is like like mmo that isnt an mmo, I some times miss it and think to play it again, it pretty much has everything wow has and a few extra parts too!

I got an email from EA games about a open beta for some game called "Darkspore" seems like a D2 type game with loot / upgrades friend / solo play

Others have said it before, but I can also vouch for Torchlight, especially if you've liked Diablo. It was fun to play, you can vary the difficulty with anything from 'raah, hack n slash mindlessly and collect loot' to hardcore mode, and it was something you could spend an hour or so on, then come back to it a couple of days later with no problem. Also the best damn use for a pet in any game! (it goes into town and sells stuff for you)

You could try a standard RPG I guess, there are plenty of those.
Morowind, Final Fantasy 11 to name 2 that are very similar but NOT MMOs
