Trinket Choices as Survival in high end gear

Hello hunter players.

I recently joined a new guild and was intrigued by our hunters choice of trinkets. She runs TED and Haromm's (Both HC) over running AoC (Which she has Heroic WF) She also strictly plays Survival.

I was just wondering if there is any merit to this? or any encounters in which this is a viable choice.

I am not a hunter myself, but would very much like to share some relevant information.

Mastery is Survival's weakest stat. Judging by her enchanting/reforging decisions, it doesn't seem like she knows what she is doing. She is itemizing a buttload of mastery yet reforging out of it on most pieces, as well as opting to take the enchant mastery to gloves over haste. At first I thought it was due to unlucky gear drops, but if she does actually have H WF AoC then I'm not sure what to say. Maybe she is just trying out different builds since progression is over.

Maybe there is some secret mastery breakpoint that I'm not aware of.

I dunno if that's really fair -- she could have just had bad luck with drops and only gotten pieces with mastery on it. It's not like we're warriors, our secondary stats are insignificant enough to be worth taking upgrades even if they're badly itemized. But the glove enchant is a little strange. She could also definitely lose some hit and expertise.

I simmed her just out of curiosity though. The H WF AoC is a 7k dps increase over the H non-WF TED. So, no, I could not tell you what is going through her head with that choice.

If I'm reading that armory page right, she's actually reforged to crit, which Noxxic says is the correct stat weighting for Surv. I don't play Hunters so I don't know if Noxxic is up to date, but that's the likely explanation regardless.

It's nothing to do with her stat weights, not quite sure what you're talking about stat weights for but yeah. It's to do with her ridiculous trinket choices and enchanting. As KTB said, yes it's necessary.

@op No, don't heed anything she says about those trinket choices. They are plain wrong. The only way they could even possibly > AoC is if she is doing a fight like Juggernaut or Malkorok and the fight length is under 3mins 20 seconds (very unlikely, that's like Paragon kill speeds) and even then I'd be very sceptical if it would be a dps increase, would probably heavily rely on RNG to outperform AoC.

Oh, little tip to OP, if you are planning on bringing up she hasn't got half a clue about her class, I'd double check if she isn't e-dating one of the officers first or RiP your time in the guild lmao. Damn females.

It would seem that she has been carried abit into Hcs, looking at the curve between normal kills -> hc kills. They just dont really match over.

Whats wrong with the game, is due partly to the exact same kids, thinking they are entitled to everything - more loot, less wipes, less mechanics i played this game 3 months - now im god at it.

I agree there is a kid in my guild named arold hes a dweeb. this kid thinks he is good because he can parse as arcane mage. on garrosh he literally arcane explosions the adds being kited before the last transition just to parse, and he wiped the raid last week because he combusted the mind control people on garrosh.
