Game tokens - guess the price

Just curious what the general thoughts are to the initial price of the game tokens

A month sub sells for roughly 3-5K max ATM. Regardless how Blizz looks at this this is how a lot and I mean a few Million players get their game time now, typically via guild leaders or other friends. my old guild Leader used to pay for about half of our 25 mans subs and sold them for 4k back in Wrath. it has gone down since then to roughly 3 sometimes 5k.

Surely a joke right? Gold is like 0.2£/1k. Which makes a £10 sub 50k at least. Unless I'm doing this maths completely wrong.

My guess is theyre gonna be super expensive, 200-400k the first few days, then drop down to around 15-20k, maybe 30.

10-20k is the only viable answer here. Anyone saying otherwise have NEVER bought gold before with real money.

  7. #7
With the amount of gold players have nowaday, I would not expect less than 100k, at least to begin with.

  8. #8
The amount of money players have is completely irrelevant, the point of this item is to combat gold sellers and from said gold sellers you can buy 3 months game time for 40-50k. If the token is meant to have any success it won't be more than 15-20k tops for just 30 days of game time.

They kinda have to be "cheap". If it is more expensive then what the goldsellers et al sell them for then this will just turn into a dud of an item, and investment in time to have created it. I assume they do this cause they want to bring security to the market and try and cut away another niche of the goldseller market or arsenal. They can't do that by being more (or a lot more) expensive. The service might be better, the security involved might be better but still I doubt people will pay a giant premium for that.

Isn't Blizzard setting the initial price of the token.

  11. #11
I think somewhere around the realm of 45k is reasonable for a month of play time. It's high enough that nobody would consider it to be 'cheap' but low enough that a majority of players could buy it if they wanted to.
    You just lost The Game

The token like other games will cost a little more than 1 month gametime . The in-game price depends only in the user choice .

Yes, therefore this poll is useless.

Q: Why can’t players set their own prices for the WoW Token?
A: The WoW Token feature is designed to facilitate the exchange of gold and game time between players in as secure, convenient, and fair a way as possible, and without making players feel like they’re playing a game with their hard-earned money. Having a set current market price and a straightforward exchange system is the best way to achieve that—you don’t need to worry about whether your Token will sell or not due to being undercut or the market shifting, and everyone receives exactly the amount of gold they were quoted.

That's anywhere between 6 and 9 Euro. That surely doesn't sound like the only viable answer to me. :^)

I'd never pay $15 (or more) for 20k gold personally, but I can totally see the same kind of fools that make Candy Crush so profitable doing that. But what does 20k even buy a player that already doesn't have enough time to earn such a trivial amount of gold in game? Pets? Gear? Even the most expensive mount added in WoD is a crappy recolor no one really wants.

Now, if it were 50k to start I'd consider buying a token just to try it out. In any case, it should be interesting to see what happens.

used to pay the chinese 5-10k per month for 2 years straight

Nope. When you put the token on the AH a preset price will be calculated based on supply and demand. You can't change this price.

If they're smart, they'll follow the gold seller market to try to keep those guys from getting any business. But knowing blizzard, they'll make it something ridiculous like 200k gold for $15 of game time.

  19. #19
    40-50k.

just look at current gold prices.

That was because of RAF + stolen credit cards. Too bad those times are long gone.
