    Magic missile replacement glyph

    So I stumbled upon this picture

    What do you guys think of this as a replacement to the current arcane missiles? I've always found the spell effect to be kind of underwhelming and weirdly symmetrical, this on the other hand looks amazing, and seeing as the spell is channelled it would work if it was a beam instead.

    You uh, know those aren't missiles with trails right?
    Those are stationary orbs with lasers coming out of them, which rotate in place. It's a Diablo 3 reference.

    And while I think the projectiles need a tiny graphical tune up (they've not changed since vanilla), I don't think they need a wholesale re-imagining.
    Cosmetic glyphs are cool! But if we're going to redo our channelled spell, let's just make it into a full on channelled laser beam, why not?

    That would be fun too, the same number of missiles over the duration but a little shinier, staggered (not released 5 at a time), and following different routes to the boss.

    Yeah, I know, the laser beam is what the arcane missiles should change into with the glyph, am I missing something? Did I not phrase it right or something because I thought it was kinda straight forward.

    You probably shoulda said that you want lazerz instead of missles, so Arcane Lazer of Death instead of Arcane Missles of Redundancy.

    I was actually curious why they copied the WORST aspects of D3 (RNG on loot bullshit) and not the COOL aspects of it (like fucking Disintegrate). Could easily make Disintegrate a cosmetic for Arcane Missiles, and just have the laser pulse on each "missile".

    I always wondered why Khadgar and Imperator Margok used new cool 'arcane missile'-like spells, and we got nothing. They're practically made to be the new arcane missiles, but shinier, and still not.

    The volley from the Tanaan food is a reskinned Arcane Torrent from D3. Actually that would look freaking sweet in the arcane colour theme.

    I would, like, 400% support a glyph to change Arcane Missiles graphic into Disintegrate. Even more so if I could replace the sound effect locally with the phaser sound effect from ST:TNG.

    I'd love to see all arcane spells get reworked with that new purple spell effect that khadgar uses alot. Glyph or no.

    Well Arcane Missiles needs a rework like IMMEDIATELY. It got an update to the flinging of Arcane Missiles, but I don't believe it ever got an actual graphical update.

    As far as the other Arcane spells, what else is there really? ABL has barely any graphic (like you can barely see it on a raid boss for example), and ABarr still looks pretty good. I guess AE could get an upgrade but I don't know how you can make it better while still keeping the iconic feel of it.

    AB not having a projectile is an upside in PvP as it does not alert players that you are targeting them right away in BGs. The impact can be more flashy if needed to be.

    Any spell that doesn't have a projectile is usually better for this reason and many others. It just means you don't get a flashy effect, not like you really need one though.

    I think it would be a good idea to give mages a way to alter appearence of almos all spells throught some hardcore scaled (so it wouldnt be neigher easier nor harder with different iLevels or patches) chain quest through some one man instances. It would really test your abilities as a mage and give you a chance to feel like an acomplished character in game. Similar to how warlocks can, yet different. You could perhaps even gain a title archmage or something and have the possibility to upgrade the visual effect of nearly all spells that would be redone through the class. I reallise it is hard to make this happen due to the fact that other classes might want the same opportunity and a lot of people would cry that blizz prioritizes mages, well perhaps thats not such a bad idea after all. I am not sure if this is my idea or if I read or heard it somewhere else. Never the less I do believe it is a good idea and it would be well recieved by mages. It would have to be really challanging though. And it would have to remain challenging.

    Now what do you think?

    Mages are the master race. And they did update some arcane spells. but yes Mage spells seem very underwhelming.

    However, Fire spells are the worst, they look like shit (Except meteor, that's a pretty spell)

I was just stating that if people would cry that mages get something thats other do, all should get it. Otherwise Im perfectly fine if just my beloved mage would have this chance.

    I think it would be a good idea.
