"Joss Whedon may have parted ways with Marvel Studios after the release of last year’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that he can’t come back to direct another movie for the studio. Speaking with IGN at San Diego Comic-Con, the director revealed that he’d be willing to return to Marvel if they ever gave him the chance to direct a standalone Black Widow movie starring Scarlett Johansson:

“I think that character really is very interesting and very earthbound, so it’s the kind of action that I got to do less of with somebody like Thor or The Vision. When you get into your ‘Superman’ territory it’s harder to maintain the gritty action that the Russo brothers do so brilliantly and she’s got that kind of thing and [you can] really do a spy thriller. Like really do a good, paranoid, ‘John le Carré on crack’ sort of thing. That would be really fun.”

The director also had the following to say about the Black Widow actress:

“Scarlett Johansson is just delightful. She works really hard but she just spends most of her time cracking me up, so it would be a fun shoot.”"

"Marvel's barn burner of a Hall H presentation today included footage from the now in production Spider-Man: Homecoming, and it really emphasized the high school aspect of the film. Opening with a Freaks and Geeks homage - Bad Reputation playing over yearbook photos of the Marvel heroes - the footage moved into a 'day in the life' montage of Peter Parker at Midtown High - where yes, they are prepping for homecoming.

In math class Peter is sneaking a peek at YouTube footage of Spidey battling Giant-Man in CIvil War. The teacher asks a complex question and Tony Revelori asks it, but he's wrong. The teacher calls on Pete, who is obviously not paying attention, and he's able to rattle off the answer - to Revelori's anger.

Next up: Women's Studies. Yup, it's Peter and his buddy, played by Jacob Batalon, staring at girls as they walk by in the hall. "We have to stop this before it gets creepy," says Peter. "Too late," chips in Zendaya, playing a disheveled and attitudinal unnamed character sitting down the table from them.

Then: chemistry! And Peter is secretly working on his web fluid formula at his lab station.

Study group! But as they all talk, Peter gets a text. Something is happening, something that requires Spider-Man. When he says he has to leave, Zendaya asks "Where are you always disappearing to, Parker?" Quick cut to a montage of Spidey action - running on a truck, climbing a wall, fighting a thug - and back to Peter.

    "Ummm..." he says.

"Just kidding," Zendaya sighs. "I don't care what you do."

And then the final reveal: the Vulture is the villain! You can see what he basically looks like in the image above.

I loved loved loved what I saw. I know the whole movie can't be Peter in school, but the energy and chemistry and fun of the 'day in the life' stuff we saw was so great I could easily watch two hours of it. "

    http://birthmoviesdeath.com/2016/07/...igh-school-fun

"According to director Jon Watts, Zendaya’s character is indeed named Michelle, but that’s pretty much the only thing we know about her. Laura Harrier is Liz (as in, Liz Allen), while Jacob Batallon is Ned, one of Peter Parker’s best friends. As for Tony Revolori, he’s playing Flash Thompson, who’s definitely going to be a bully, at least for a portion of the movie. Here’s what the actor had to say about that:

“I’m [Peter Parker’s] bully and I don’t know how cool he is, but when we call cut, I’m just like, ‘Ah! You’re so cool.’”

Watts also explained why he decided to make the Vulture the main villain of the movie:

“Vulture’s the first real villain in the Spider-Man comics. He’s in the second issue. He’s one of the classics from the best rogues’ gallery out there, and we’ve never seen him, he’s never been brought to life.”

While The Vulture is the main antagonist of the movie, we also know that there are going to be two more villains, who will be played by Bokeem Woodbine and Logan Marshall-Green. During the Diamond Select Toys panel, a panelist reportedly revealed that they’re working on a bunch of action figures based on the movie, including a couple of figures based on the Tinkerer and the Shocker. That’s all that we know for now, but we’ll update as soon as get more details. What do you guys think? Sound off below!"

Announced at San Diego Comic-Con today, the fourth season of Avengers will focus on a new team of heroes, in the wake of the disappearance of the usual team: Ms. Marvel, Captain Marvel, Jane Foster’s Thor, Black Panther, Ant-Man, Wasp, and Vision. In art shown of the team, (excluding Thor, who was absent), every character is wearing their Marvel Cinematic Universe uniforms, save for Kamala and Carol, who don’t have their own... yet."

    ALSO, HULK GLADIATOR SCOOP CONFIRMED

“The first movie, we set out to create a movie that wasn’t what people expected, that took them to new places, that was both much funnier, much more colorful and much more emotional than they thought it was going to be. I think this movie’s going to be the same way. I think we’re giving them things that they don’t expect and I think we take twists and turns and the stories that I don’t think you’re going to expect. It starts with today in revealing this is about Baby Groot and this is about Ego the Living Planet being Quill’s father. It’s a very unique situation to start with.”

Gunn held the information close to chest for a while but he said he felt, with the movie wrapped, it was best to control the flow of information about the film, rather than wait for a leak or spoiler. Also, the reveal isn’t itself a big deal in the movie, with Gunn revealing it takes place in Act 1 and thus sets the stage for the remainder of the film to explore the consequences of having a father who, as Gunn eloquently puts it, just “happens to be a Living Planet.”

“Quite frankly, we knew that people were going to figure it out eventually. People were gonna start testing the movie, we’re gonna start testing trailers, and it this point I thought it was better that we took the reigns in our own hands and revealed Ego to the public. I also think it sends a real important message. This movie isn’t about, ‘Oh my god, you’ve gotta go and find out who Peter Quill’s dad is!’ It really is about the story and the relationship these characters have. We find out about Peter’s father pretty close to the beginning of the film so we’re not giving some big spoiler away. I think it really isn’t about this big surprise, it really is about the story and the emotions that transpire between Peter Quill, his adoptive father Yondu, and his biological father Ego who happens to be a Living Planet.”

As an additional treat, Comic-Con goers and intrepid Twitter fans got to see Kurt Russell’s costume from the film. It is a simple and undramatic tunic, reminding me of Jorah the Andal from Game of Thrones. It bespeaks a traveling man, which, despite his planetary status, Ego certainly is (at least when he’s experiencing humanity through the form of Kurt Russell)."

"The first presentation at Marvel's packed panel today was for Black Panther, a movie that isn't even shooting until January. That means there wasn't a lot to share, but director Ryan Coogler did introduce some key members of his cast, confirming a few rumors. Yes, Michael B. Jordan will be playing Erik Killmonger, the villain of the piece. It turns out that Danai Gurira - Michonne on The Walking Dead - is playing the head of the Dora Milaje, the all-female security force that protects the King of Wakanda. And then there's Lupita N'yongo, was introduced as Nakia, a member of the Dora Milaje.

But get this: Nakia in the comics isn't just a member of the Dora Milaje. She is a member of the Dora Milaje who is in love with T'Challa but cannot marry him, and she ends up kicked out of the security force after she tries to kill Panther's girlfriend. She ends up crossing paths with none other than Killmonger, who saves her life and renames her "Malice." Under that identity she becomes a villain who uses a toxic herb that makes men obsessed with and obedient to her.

So... is Lupita a secondary villain? Or is Malice being set up for the next film? They certainly didn't make it sound like she's the baddie this time, so Marvel could be playing the long game."

So wait... In the Thor footage that was shown, apparently they caught a brief glimpse of Fenris. AKA the big bad Wolf

AKA The beast that fights Odin during Ragnarok.

    And kills him.

Calling it now: Odin dies, Thor ascends to the Throne of Asgard.

Then, in Infinity War, we get RUNE KING THOR!

Will be interesting to see what happens to Odin for sure, considering Loki had taken the throne at the end of Dark World.

I always loved Carol Danvers in the Marvel comics and I think Brie Larson is brilliant and wonderful casting.

Marvel and Disney's casting director(s) are the best I have ever seen in the industry. 99% of their success post-Iron Man is from the casting director and I hope they are paid stupid sums of money. There is no way Marvel & Disney are not aware of the degree to which their casting choices are superb.

Edit: Ego, The Living Planet not being an actual talking planet with a face and goatee is not okay to me personally. Starlin, Kirby or Simonson or GTFO.

"When comedic director Taika Waititi was hired to make the third Thor film, Thor: Ragnarok, most people didn’t know what to expect. About 7,000 of those people now know what to expect as Marvel played a video Waititi directed at Comic-Con, showing Thor and Hulk’s whereabouts during Captain America: Civil War.

The piece was shot like a documentary, similar in style to Waititi’s breakout film What We Do In The Shadows. It began with a logo for a New Zealand documentary company and then a very grainy, VHS-looking logo for Captain America: Civil War with the words “Team Thor” crudely put over it.

It starts with Chris Hemsworth as Thor, sitting in a very modest, beige apartment. He’s being interviewed for this documentary. Thor explains that after the last adventure, he decided to take a break. “I needed some me time,” he said, so he went to Australia and moved in with Darryl. a random dude, almost like Thor found him on Craig’s List.

As Thor talks, he waves around his hammer without a care in the world. Darryl looks horrified. Thor explains that he and Darryl are helping each other with things, and we get a glimpse of Darryl trying to sweep the floor, except Mjolnir is just in the middle of the room for no reason.

We see Thor stalking Darryl at work, in full costume. He walks around the office, dictating an “electronic mail” that Darryl is going to send to “Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man” for him. In it, Thor basically asks how Tony’s doing and that he heard something with going on with “Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America.” (Every time Thor mentions those characters, he phrases it like that: real name a.k.a. superhero name. It’s great.)

Next Thor explains how he’s been helping out in the community. He’s shown in a kid’s classroom having drawn a crude drawing of the Avengers on the wall in crayon. “Who is this?” Thor asks the kids. “Vision!” they all scream. “Wow, I’m surprised you knew that.”

Cut to Thor’s room, where he’s got a Beautiful Mind-style wall that says “What are Infinity Stones?” on it. He takes the audience through some culprits, like his brother Loki, and someone he calls Purple Guy (it’s Thanos). Thor knows three things about this character: He’s purple, he has a glove, and he doesn’t like standing up.

Finally, Thor is sitting down for coffee with Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner. Thor explains to Banner that he’s a little hurt that “Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man,” hasn’t called him to help with his feud with “Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America.” Banner explains he hasn’t gotten the call either when, just then, his phone rings. It’s Tony Stark.

Banner answers the call, and Thor keeps asking for the phone. When Banner asks Tony why he hasn’t called Thor, he (apparently) says it’s because he doesn’t know how to get in touch with him. “I don’t have a phone,” Thor says. “Send a raven.”

I’m not sure if Marvel will ever put this clip online, but it was absolutely hilarious. Way funnier than reading it on a page, unfortunately. But I assure you, if an iota of this humor is in Thor: Ragnarok, it’s going to be amazing.

From there, they played actual behind the scenes footage from Thor: Raganrok: Besides the costumes and props, we saw concept art of Jeff Goldblum sitting next to Loki ; Chris Hemsworth with short hair and warpaint, looking very Braveheart; and finally, Thor and Hulk (in his armor) running at each other in a stadium. Yup, just like Planet Hulk.

The footage then ends on a shot of Hulk jumping at a massive beast that could be Surtur, the fire giant in Norse mythology (and Marvel Comics) destined to bring about Ragnarok. It all leads to this new, trippy, ‘80s video game-style logo for the film."

    this cast looks so groovy

    - - - Updated - - -

Following being removed from their upcoming slate of releases and*a number of rumors about the film being in trouble, there’s been speculation that Marvel Studios might not be moving forward with their planned Inhumans film. Head of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige has already shot down those rumors a few times in the past and while speaking with Coming Soon this past weekend at San Diego Comic-Con, Feige once again reassured that the project will “certainly” be part of their upcoming slate of releases. The Marvel Studios headiIn had the following to say when asked about the project.

“We’ve announced through 2019, we have ideas through 2021. It sounds like the future but it’s not so far away. We’re determining what we’ll be doing then and certainly Inhumans will be part of that.”

    http://heroichollywood.com/kevin-fei...rtainly-slate/

    - - - Updated - - -

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige discussed the expanding universe and how the current Avengers will be mixed with newer cast members like Brie Larson*(Captain Marvel) and Tom Holland (Spider-Man).

“You always look to the comic books, as we do, and you look at how rosters shift and rosters change and characters go away for a while and characters come back. I would guess that we would get to that soon. Luckily, we’re years away from it.*Everything that we’re doing right now when we’re not here getting ready for Comic-Con is focused on the nine movies that will be produced over the next three years and that takes up all of our time and all of our thoughts and all of those include all of those great actors you just mentioned and all of those characters.”

Feige added that when it comes to planning ahead for movies, they are always looking at least five years out.

“We always look at a horizon line that’s usually about five years off. Sometimes, even that is sort of a pipe dream, sometimes it even goes beyond that. That’s usually what we’re looking at. Right now, we know through and have announced through 2019. We have ideas and pretty firm of where we’re going in 2020. 2021, which still sounds like the crazy, far fetched future to me, but 2021 is still in flux through 2025.”

“I didn’t want to do what the comics did and start off with Mordo just being an arch nemesis and a bad guy straight from the beginning. I think with all so called villains, with all antagonists in any movie, you are only as invested in them as you are in their point of view and Mordo*has a good strong point of view in this movie and the same is true of Mads*Mikkelson’s*character. They’re both men of idea, men of principles, men of beliefs and those are the kind of antagonists I enjoy watching, so we tried to make a movie with those kind of antagonists.”

He was only in his mid twenties when he got cast on Downton, they made him look a lot older, also the fact that he was walking around in a suit 95% of the time makes him seem older, even if he doesn't look it. This is the reason that he left Downton, to try to make it in America, really hope it works out for him, seems like a really nice bloke from everything i've seen.

And yeah, this show looks solid, I thought I recognised the female lead as well looked her ujp and she was in the second season of Fargo, and really good in that, so i've got high hopes.

On a related note, and it might just be my brain drawing a blank because i've been up for 30+ hours, wasn't Legion one of the shows that Fox wanted the rights to in exchange for Fantastic Four? So did that deal go ahead and i've completely forgotten about it, or do we not know yet?

the shows being in exchange for fantastic four was only ever a rumour.

we know fox and marvel worked out some sort of deal for them to share the tv show rights in order to produce this and a couple other shows but we dont know what actually took place during those deals and what marvel got out of it.

Imo this is the only confirmation that we'll get for Fantastic Four, until they actually announce Fantastic Four, because what else could Fox have traded away from these shows? Its not like Marvel would do a Sony/Spiderman deal with Fox just for the money, they don't need the money, that would be Marvel doing Fox an abolute solid, and from the way that Marvel has been aggressively trying to cut anything X Men related from its universes, I highly doubt they want to be doing Fox any favours.
