Rank 3 Herbalism quest

Hello everyone, this might have come up many times already, but I have not found a clear answer about this.

Those that played beta will most likely know and will be able to answer me so here it is.

Do we get rank 3 quest for the herbs while gathering or is there some gating to finding them ?

I already got all rank 2 and I also have the quest for rank 3 Felwort, but I need to do Emerald Nightmare to complete it.

Am I suppose to have a chance to loot the rank 3 quest item while gathering or will it only be possible after I complete the rank 3 Felwort quest ?

I really want to know where I can get them if it is even possible as of now since I have been gathering for hours and have not yet been lucky on that front.

Rank 3 Starlight Rose would be extremely good to have as well.

I kind of had the same question. I've gathered quite a bit at rank 2s with no luck. Would at least like to know if it's just RnG or if there is another way.

Dreankeaf rank 3 is supposed to drop form herbing mobs so im guessing the others are as well. Only i spent like 5 hours so far farming the said mobs with no luck.

I don't know the answer for sure, but I think all the rank 3 gathering skills are tied into getting rank 3 of your 'special' mat, i.e. Infernal Brimstone, Felhide, and Felwort

Hey, i am herbaslist, and i have the following ranks:

Aethrill 3, Fjans 2, Dreamleaf 2, Fox 2, Star 3, Felwort 2

working currently on Dreamleaf but its a pain in the ass. There is the rumor that you need to herb mobs, but there is no blue or video confirming that. i got the Rank 3 for Aethril and Star from the herbs itself.

gathermate2 is working well for me.

Is there any chance that herbing rank is limited to something like rank 1 until honored, rank 2 until revered(ish?), with the dominant faction corresponding to zone spawning herb? My herb ranks kind of mirrors rep bars in a funny way. I will try to take note of reputation milestones and see if it procs an easy herb rank increase

If Rank 3 is also from herbing mobs, damn, I hope I get lucky again.

What I want to know is why Blizzard made a quest to get mass milling for Felwort. Um, who is milling Felwort because they need to be stopped.

I am milling felwort because price for them dropped to oblivion on my realm and i acutaly made a ton of gold by shuffling them into sallow pigment and cards...

I've been trying to get Aethril rank 3 for the past 4 hours, no luck. Does it drop from any node in Azsuna, or in a special area? Does it drop from mobs?

The only rank 3 I have at the moment is Dreamleaf, after farming the herb mobs in Shala'nir for a few hours (just outside the instance).

I have Starlight Rose at rank 3, Foxflower at rank 1 and all the others at rank 2.
All reputations at honored.

I think it mostly come down to just farming because the rank 3 quests have a low drop chance.
Starlight Rose is the herb I have gathered the most, Foxflower the least, so my ranks make sense to me.
It is possible that Dreamleaf rank 3 requires you to herb dead mobs though. They don't all have to be the same.

I have rank 2 in all herbs except Starlight Rose in which I have rank 3. I have farmed probably about 4000-5000 aethril trying to get rank 3 and i've had zero luck. Very frustrating if its gated behind something else and I had no way to know.

800 Herbalism, over 3000 Aethril, still Rank 2. Everything else is also R2 except Foxflower which is still R1!!! What the hell is up with these?!

Gathering professions are pretty bad, there is no indication as to any specific way to trigger level three skills. They may or may not be in specific areas of a zone.

I have been farming thousands of herbs each day (engi mount + glove enchant + nelf druid + blanket) and I have not had a single rank 3 of anything. I'm genuinely fed up. It shouldn't be this rare/rng. I suspect they're deliberately stalling it by making the chance prohibitively low to keep the economy up. Not that there should be a fear of a healthy flow of materials into the market. But I farm about 200 Roses per hour, and I have perhaps 10 stacks whilst on rank 2 and no rank 3. How is that remotely reasonable, rng or not. Where's the bloody "back luck protection". I have people in my guild with 2 legendaries already, better rng than my herbalism.

Just got lvl 3 dreamleaf quest from herbing regular node in Val'sharah, accidentally the first node after freeing Keeper Remulos from capitivity. It was 20 feet to the left of the merchant npc under the huge tree in the Boneflux quest area if you want too see if its a magical node =P I'd say I have herbed around 75-100 dreamleaf since legion day 1, and my belief is that triggering these quests have more to do with general progression than how how many 10s of thousand nodes you can farm
