Needing a new mobo

So I bought an asus mobo but it came with its original bios and not the updated one. Therefore, my ivy bridge cpu wasn't compatible. I had no way of upgrading the bios so I sent it back. I need help finding a compatible mobo now.

Budget $125 and down. Ideally, the lower the better
Resolution 1920.x1080
Games / Settings Desired WoW and Civ V/VI. Not expecting ultra. But mid range at minimum I think is doable.
Any other intensive software or special things you do (Frequent video encoding, 3D modeling, etc) Nope
Country US
Parts that can be reused Cpu, HDD, SDD, Video Card, Monitor, PSU.
Do you need an OS? Nope
Do you need peripherals (e.g. monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers, etc)? Nope

I have a pcpartpicker list but most of the suggestions aren't priced. I realize that my RAM is weird(Klevv Urbane 8gb) so hopefully that doesn't need to be replaced.

Ideally, I would like to use all of these with a new motherboard(LGA 1155 socket) @ at least 1600. I'm currently using an old pc with nothing useful. I plan on just adding a heatsink/fan. Nothing spectacular.

Why were you not able to update the bios? Anywho you are going to have to do that with any used board you get.

I don't have an older 1155 cpu to use in a mobo to update it so it'll accept my ivy bridge. Asus sent me the mobo with the first bios it ever came with. Can't update a bios with no cpu.

Hmm for some reason i was thinking you could at least get into the bios with an unrecognized CPU. Check out this deal here:

An h77 atx board WITH a 3470 for 125 bucks, that is actually a really good deal. You obviously already have the CPU, but you could turn around and sell that for a good portion of the original cost.

My RAM was working fine with the cpu in a piece of sh*t HP mobo. Should I worry about any compatibility?

You mean with your ram and what i linked above? It should work fine, ive heard of klevv before they actually make some really high end ram. The only issue would be the speed, officially they only support 1333/1600 memory but there should be a xmp button in the bios on that asus board.

Thanks for your help so far. If I'm going to just sell the cpu I have, shouldn't I look for a better deal/better cpu package instead of staying with the i5-3470? Getting a more modern socket would be easier to upgrade down the road, no?

Well the only option would be looking for a haswell based system, skylake you would need new ram. Haswell isnt much faster than ivy each generation is only about a 5% improvement over the last. I doubt you can find a deal like the one i linked, but it doesnt hurt to look.

Say you sell your CPU for 75 bucks, you are essentially getting a motherboard for 50 bucks. If you went haswell you would have to hope to find a CPU and motherboard for 125 bucks, i dont think thats possible. Even then your system wouldnt be much faster.

Just a quick look on ebay i5-4460 are going for 140 dollars by themselves lol. Go ahead and search core i5 3470 vs core i5 4460 benchmarks and see for yourself how little difference there is.
