It seems that Cata is going to be the smallest expansion to date. Cata is aimed at new players, that's pretty much the focus this time. Blizzard seems to think that current players are going to stick around for 5 meager levels of content, a pathetically low amount of new dungeons, and 2-4 raids that are nothing but the broken down division of one levels worth of content. In the end, some people will be happy with that small amount of content they'll actually use, but if people sit back and go "I really want more" then Blizzard might be in for a surprise when old subscriptions start dropping off fast. I think Blizzard is banking on Cata being an expansion that draws more new people in then they lose, but judging from the past, that just won't be the case. I think the statistic was something like only 1 in every 1,000 people that tries the game actually makes it past level 10 and keeps playing.
