On a 1-10 scale, how happy are you generally?

I generally have a rather neutral level of happiness, about 4-5 on the 1-10 scale. Lots of stuff on my mind, I still have a rather long path in learning in 3d modeling my hypothetical city. I'm still in College and am somewhat concerned with employment when I get out.

My high point was about 26 months ago, when I discovered about creating space art on photoshop, my high point was about 8 on the scale. but ever since then, it has been on a steady decline. After my first illustration render of my hypothetical city, I might boost my mood back up to a 6 or 7.

1 would be long term depression
    2 moderate sadness
    3 mild sadness
    4 would be almost fine
    5 would be feeling fine
    6 general positive mood
    7 pretty happy
    8 very happy
    9) almost perfectly happy
    10 perfectly happy

Prooobably around 5.. maybe 6. I'm generally happy when things are moving in the right direction which they are. Most of the time anyway.

7-8 usually, despite having some major issues right now, I just swing down into sadness sometimes to come back up, just a good vent usually leaves me better.

Depends, generally a 6, but when i hit a mood it drops to 1 (Which is somewhat frequent, given me having severe depression).

i'm a positive guy and i remind myself not to bring myself down as it can do a lot of bad things for me (anxiety, depression, and mania are things i have genetically passed from my mom's side)

so even with stress, the senior college computer engineering workload, and my wife and family, i'm at a 9 usually.

    9. I am very happy with my life right now. To get it to a 10 though, that would take something like winning the lottery or having relations with Denise Milani lol

You should've made it from zero to 10 so that 5 would be bang in the middle.

5½ for me, not happy not sad.

5 I guess. I'm not generally a happy or sad person. I just kinda am.

Definitely 1. The only thing that makes it tolerable is this trope: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...InIndifference

Once you pass the despair event horizon, it doesn't hurt anymore, because you don't really feel anymore. This also has the somewhat paradoxical and amusing effect (at least in this state) that things like love and hope feel sad, scary, and evil to you. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HopeIsScary

Most of the time just a neutral 5, with spikes into 6 when something amuses me.

Generally a 4 but definitely a -10 today after watching the Magnatilla that my dad and I spent quite a bit of time over the last 2 years building turn itself back into a pile of various lengths of balsa and liteply on it's 3rd ever flight :/ At least the engine survived I guess....

probably 4, I'm not a very outgoing guy. People piss me off and my personality has been molded around it. I try to be nice and give respect when it's due to be given, but I generally just have stopped caring lately, I wake up, go to work and play games when I get home.

4 was my high point. I have hit 4 a few times in my life.

    1. Have struggled with depression for almost all my adult life. Sure there are good days, and there are great days. But the majority of them are like staring down a long dark tunnel with only a glimmer of light at the end and not knowing if that glimmer of light is a good day, or something heading towards you which will just make things worse.

No I have no suicidal thoughts, Depression does not always equal suicidal.

Yeah...I know the feeling. I have come to understand why...when you're truly past the despair event horizon, you really wouldn't have suicidal thoughts, because that would require you to care. I basically just live my life in games. I still get excited about new toys and new expansions and such, I just don't really feel anything else (at least as far as positive feelings).

I find happiness daily in small things; music, movies, tv-series, games, spending time with friends, and so on. However, on the whole, life is shit, to such extent that it's not even on that scale.

Thats the first time I have heard about the "Despair event horizon" had to look it up on your links, think I passed that phase long ago. luckily I do have several friends I can turn to when things start feeling like a dark rainy day would be an improvement to my mood and they can usually snap me out of it.

Yeah it's funny how accurate that term is. The despair event horizon truly is an event horizon. Barring VERY unusual circumstances it can only be crossed in one direction. Once you're past it, you're past it. It takes something or someone really extraordinary to bring you out again. And if that happens, things go wrong, and you end up going through it again, it's likely final. That's what happened in my case.
