Titanium Ore - Sell it or stock it ?

    Hello! I'm new here...

And I already have a "task" for you guys ;D

I wonder would it be better to farm titanium now and stock it for 3.2. release, or farm it and sell it by around 10g per ore.

I dont know how will epic gems prices be and am I going to be able to sell any when it releases because of many people stocking up on titanium too + its available from EoH...

    Help please! :-*

I would sell the ore, soon as the patch hits, ppl are guna fly to the AH and buy it no matter what the cost to get those epic gems and sell them for 10,000g each on the 1st day.

Farm and sell because you will be able to buy epic uncuts with 10 emblems in 3.2, which would drop the price of titanium ore.

Re: Titanium Ore - Sell it or stock it ?

yes fact is taht the epic gems will be easy to get, alot of people have both valor and heroism emblems stocked and nothing to do with them so there will eb no problem getting them, aslo all the alchemist will be able to easily transmute the old gems so there will be plentifull, not as cheap as blue gems are now maybe but not like stormjewels.

What would u do if u were me?

SS of some of my banker's tabs:

Bought all stacks for about 125-140g each. I've got more now as this was taken a few days ago but i'm probably going to just keep the ore and see how much G i get back from the 'investment' after 3.2. I wouldn't expect to lose much if anything ;p

P.S. Why saving rare gems and cut gems? ???

I'd think the main reason to get titanium ore is not the epic gems in ther(that's a bonus) but the titanium powder to get JC tokens and buy more epic gems recipes.

(you need 360 token to buy all of them sooo)

There are hundreds more on the AH that you don't see in this SS.

The cut gems are my bankers bags + bankers personal (non guild) bank which are just a backlog of harder to sell gems. The reason so many monarch/twilight/sky sapphire are uncut is because i cant sell them fast enough so i just end up with a massive backlog of gems to cut and sell when i run out of the previous ones. It makes more sense to do that than to cut them all and run out of bag space.

If you're looking to make the most profit then simply stock pile your Titanium Ore and auction it off once the patch goes live. In addition to chance providing the prospect of uncut epic gems, the JCs also receive their dust/power or w/e the hell it is, which they can turn in in exchange for one of their daily tokens to unlock additional cuts. Basically meaning, don't expect the price of Titanium Ore to drop down any time soon :|

No it isn't. There's a stable inflation trend on most servers, meaning that the value of your gold is diminishing all the time. If you own trade goods you won't be hit by inflation, but you're at risk from changes in supply and demand. However, you can protect yourself against that risk by diversifying your assets.

Holding a major portion of your wealth in one type of good (e.g., Titanium Ore) has a high risk (price might crash after a patch, wiping you out) but potentially high return (price might jump after a patch, making you very rich). How much to sell or stock it depends entirely on how much risk you can live with. Personally I like to have 80-90% of my wealth in gold and the remaining 10-20% in the highest risk assets I can think of.

I prefer cold hard cash, as it takes up less bank space..

Smelt it into bars and sell it. On my realm the bars sell for 225g a stack.

Re: Titanium Ore - Sell it or stock it ?

I'm not sure I'd smelt it... ore is going to be far more attractive to the JC.

Epic Gems? NO as other have already said ... thats an afterthought at best. If the PTR is any indication epic gems (raw) will sell for 20-25 Emblems of Heroism.... When it comes to raiders.... If they have 1 Emblems of Heroism they probably have 200+.... Heck I'm sitting on 300 of them only because there's really nothing worth buying... they can also trade down their emblems of valor for heroism or even conquest to heroism....

Nobody in their right mind is gonna be paying the INSANE prices for titanium ore... Heck people on my very very tiny (our servers actually redefines the word low-pop).. :P

Anyway titanium ore is already being listed for 220+g a stack! (when 7 short days ago the server was filled with stacks going for 35-45g sometimes even less... So yea given non JCs can prospect to begin with *and* its a $*$#-shoot when it comes to what epic you do get (if you do get 1) --- 1 stack is no 'sure thing'. The ore isn't gonna be 'wanted by all'....

But JCs yea.. they are gonna want it cause when u do prospect powder drops... and 10 powder can be turned in for 1 JC token and JCs are gonna need lots of tokens so they can buy the epic gem cutting patterns.... (5 tokens each as per the PTR).

    But something has to give...

If the stacks of titanium ore stay at the 200-300g per stack prices then Blacksmithing could very well collapse... My guess is... Blizzard will increase the amount of titanium ore to even things out some. Could you imagine what it will be like if 1 bar of titanium (not titansteel) will cost upwards of 60g (or more)?

Bars aren't goingto be be half as useful in 3.2 as the ore. Ore can be sold and prospected for titanium powder and epic gems, but once you smelt it, it's just a bar and only useful for BS
This bro told a cool story on 2009-12-03 and proudly took part in the banfest.

That means that the supply goes down and demand stays about the same. Titanium bars gets more expensive, but might not be as profitable as the ore.

Re: Titanium Ore - Sell it or stock it ?

    both

buy and stock when the selling is cheap, sell when others are overpriced to cover your buying costs. the way i have done it i have stocked about half as much as i have bought and made back all that i have spent.
Rejoice, For very bad things are about to happen...

Re: Titanium Ore - Sell it or stock it ?

I decided to keep the 25 stacks I farmed after the 3.2 info simply because regemming cheap is my foremost concern. All leftover gems from the first day of prospecting will be cut and put in the AH to make a little extra.

Since the best way to make money is reducing spending first and then going for the profit and the "value" of gold is not what it used to be.
If your above about 20k in gold I see no reason to really amount any more.

Re: Titanium Ore - Sell it or stock it ?

im not sure what the stats are going to be for the epic agility gems, or if there is a limit to them, im buying the hell out of them, i only have about 3 titanium ore stacks, and hopefully i can get about 5 epic gems out of it

    Dokkan (Moonrunner) 80 Blood Deathknight
    Fazlim (Moonrunner) 80 Holy Priest

Re: Titanium Ore - Sell it or stock it ?

All im afraid of is that too many people have much emblems and won't buy gems off AH + many people will do the same and there will be mad undercuting. (If I choose to save it for patch.)
