    Ideas for new mage spells in cataclysm?

    i read a neat thread about new warrior ability theories, im interested to see feedback on mage spells that could be in cataclysm.. the floor is yours

    Reject : Boss or player X casts a dmging spell or does a dmging ability to the mages who activates a instant spell - reject - that returns the spell for 100% to the boss or player that it came from.

    lil bit like what glyphed shields do atm
    but then a instant ability only activatable from the point the boss or player casts towards you (mage)

    Surely that'd be "Reflect" which warriors already have..
    And the amount of QQ from warriors if we suddenly get another of their abilites (we already got MS) would crash the internet.

    Slipstream (Arcane)
    Causes the target to slip through the folds of time and space, entering an alternate dimension for x seconds. While in this dimension, the target takes x damage per second, and is unable to act on any target except themselves. This ability overrules all effects in place.

    Think of it as Banish, but with a short duration and the target is able to move and act. Bandages or eating/drinking are impossible because of the damage per second, which is in there only to prevent exactly those actions. The "Overrules all effects" line is there because this spell has a very useful purpose; slap it on an enemy who has blown a cooldown. Be it Ice Block, Bubble, etc., you can zap them out of existence to derail the usefulness of said abilities.

    Obviously intended for PVP, but it could also serve as a form of backup CC to support Polymorph, for those situations where it breaks early or misses.

    A bolt spell that is charged. They'd have to create the charge mechanic for it, but it'd work like this.

    Activate charge => wait X time => Tap button again to fire bolt

    Of course the longer you charge the more damage it does, they could even make the animation larger/smaller depending on the charge time.

    I think a toned down version of Telestra's spell that flings the whole party around in the air might be cool.

    this would screw over rotations, cause normally you wont be able to do any other dmge while the charge is growing right?

    yeah your correct, you can see it as a mage type of the warrior his reflect

    & about the amount of QQ
    can u name 1thing that gets added to the game or changed or taken out of the game that doesnt create a shitstorm/typhoon of 1sided QQ, & internetspamming. (doesnt mather what the QQing class would be cause all classes are OPQQers)

    Make Fireball have the aoe component it did in Diablo II, or by extension the D&D it was taken from. In a similar vein, Delayed Blast Fireball would be a nice little modification.

    As for other spells I can remember from D&D... mages are just too bloody narrow in their focus compared to wizard/sorceror/what-have-you. That being said, something badass like Wierd or Wail of the Beanshee would be awesome. But... instant kill spells would probably be not only frowned upon in WoW, but also given to locks Stupid locks. Drain our hate and kill us with it.

    interseting. they would still be able to cast instant spells(i.e. fire blast), but still be almost helpless ;D

    Look, I'm a warlock. I was gonna post some mage-bait idea about a mage having an aura that just auto-gave any warlock an hk while that aura was active. Nobody cares about that. But this thing? Summon Unicorn? That needs to happen.
