Leveling Spec, is there a best?

I'm leveling a mage ( had done with RaF) and I'm currently sitting at 5 bars from 64 and i was wondering

What spec is "Best" for leveling?

I fooled around with arcane and that proved to be not so bad, 2 minute cooldowns for evocation, (arcane blast next level) instant cast high damage spell, and when missile barrage proc'ed ( 2/3 mobs times sometimes twice on a single mob) The sucker died quickly,

Frost ( which I am right now ) is nice because of Replenishment from Water elemental , Glyph of Eternal Water makes him a constant pet adding an additional 400-500 damage per spell. And instant free Fireballs are a bonus ( i feel this spec is a little dull while leveling...its just, spam frostbolt...spam frostbolt...done. next mob spam frostbolt..frostbolt done. With occasional fireball.)

I haven't gotten to step my foot into Fire yet , but i can imagine (on hot streak proc) that an instant pyroblast + fire blast would be a hefty amount of damage.

I'm looking less for a " This spec is best answer" but more for a Pros /Cons of each and Why you think a certain one is best out of them?

Also leveling a mage atm and tried arcane fire and frost and must say frost is the best spec to go for leveling with the low mana uses and the amount of crits trough talents you dont need greed gear either to do nice dmg and with glyph you can have a pet al the time.

Also only with frost spec i whas able to do elite quests solo with fire that whas ok but it whas a real pain when i whas specced arcane

I understand what you mean when you talk about the pain in solo'ing quests as arcane, once I got to Zangarmarsh and needed to kill the Elite Fen Strider , I died about 3 times, downed him first shot as frost.

Forst is best, if you can try buy duel spec and go Arcane for dungeons and then frost for soloing things. Frost is decently fast killing and mana efficient, and Arcane is best for instances.

Fire works aswell, I lvled my mage from 10-78 in fire, and the last 2 lvls as arcane. Fire maybe gives you less survivability, but against elites.. well you'll mostly blow them up before they reach you, and you got blastwave/DB aswell.

No spec is really best for leveling as a Mage when you've reached the levels you have. Esp. if you have BoA to your disposal. Just respec to one and if you dont like it just respec again.Just go with what is fun for you.

Frost is easiest, Fire is most fun imo. With arcane u can kill mobs easy, but thats pretty much only solo mobs and its a mana killer, but ye u got evo every 2 min but still. I'd go fire if i were you, its just super fun
Fire has amazing talents like Fire Breath and Blast Wave, besides Living Bomb on multiple mobs = win. Altho im not sure if you have that spell at lower level then 80.

The best solo spec is frost. The snares are just too good and ice barrier helps a lot with incoming damage. And if there are a lot of melee mobs around you can just aoe them down (e.g. the vultures in Hellfire Peninsula).

If you plan to level a lot through dungeons, then pic a slightly modified (Frost)Fire spec. Blast Wave + Dragon's Breath + Firestarter = Win. Only problem is, you need a good tank to hold aggro ;-)
Why do something simple, when there is a complicated way?

I gues all specces are good. My friend leveled his mage with a bit of respeccing and all specces worked nice. While I personally prefered frost.

Frost can be pretty insane with good +spell damage gear, I frequently 2 - 3 shot things in Northrend since you get awesome crit talents. I hardly ever used my elemental and usually only did if I could be bothered or remembered, it just didn't add much to kill times at the rate I was going at. Add to that survivability and it's win/win.

Frost is the best one, everyone who has actually tried leveling a mage with all specs knows it. Just ignore the ones saying "all are good" or something similar shit, cause that's not true.

    Talk for yourself please..
My first char i leveled was a mage and i was mostly fire from 0-80.. Its not hard, you just need to be prepared and know what your doing so u wont get dmg. The whole idea of a mage btw.

Frost is just easiest. Not best. I can level faster with fire then with frost, 100%.

Level in the spec you enjoy the most, unless you are powerleveling...

I always found frost to be easier. I've tried all 3 but keep coming back to frost because the control and good damage output (especially with shatter crits) and now having a perma-pet is great too.

Fire, anyone who says frost becuase its better for mana lies, Ignite + Pyro = two spell casts per mob.

(whaddya mean long cast times! Shuddup!)

    depeneds...

frost if you want control and want to gank / protect yourself while leveling

    fire for nuking shit down

arcane when you get arcane blast is fastest though. fire before that

It depends on your playstyle, truthfully.
AoE farming is frost, hands down.
PVP would be fire or frost.
    Questing would be frost.
Dungeoning would be either fire for great dps or frost for easyness.

something is usually the easiest BECAUSE it is the best.

also, on an unrelated note, i wish people would actually learn the names of spells and talents that they supposedly used. i mean, the hell is fire breath?

Dragons Breath then, i always seem to mix that name up. And playing mage since vanilla

Well.. I think its a matter of opinion. I dont find 'better' being able to kite or getting more dmg.
As a mage i define better, being able to not get hit, and to nuke things down ASAP. But i guess its just me
