    Antec PSU's

Are they any good? I am considering trading my Corsair 500w CX for a Antec Basiq 500w.
Because i heard the CX series is not so good stuff like usual Corsair products.

corsair > antec almost any product. And your only talking of 500w psu's, only really matters when your getting 750 to 800w+ to worry about efficieny

The CX series is not good because they overrate the PSU wattage. The actual build quality of the components inside is not bad.

    So trade it or what?

Whatever do you need to trade it for? Is your system even coming close to 500w? If you already own a CX500 then stick with it, it's a Corsair and is therefore still better than some unknown random brand.
If you can trade it for free, then sure go for an Antec EarthWatts (if that option is available). Otherwise I don't see the point of getting fussy over a 500w psu.

Meaning the number in the title? Every brand does that. :<
As long as they're not cheating on the DC output table... >>

Antec Basiq is just as weak as Corsair CX series, both are cheap-ass lines from their manufacturers.

If you absolutely must trade it in, just get a VX or TX replacement. Slightly higher wattage, but no reason to switch PSUs unless you like Antec. I like Corsair though so. :P

Apparently both Corsair and Antec get their PSUs from Seasonic.

What the...so essentially my PSU is an AX750, but with the "Corsair AX" label removed since it's directly from Seasonic. Lol.

There are very small differences and for some reason the X-750 performs a bit better than the AX750. It's unnoticeable without precise equipment, so practically they are the same.
    AX750 inside
    X-750 inside
As you can see, they didn't just change the label. Both are manufactured by Seasonic, but Corsair has the power to require additional changes to their unit.

Antec is crap. Simple rule of thumb for future reference; if you can buy it at Best Buy, its probably shit.

Antec Basiq is crap, the rest are just as good as Corsairs for example. Because they're manufactured by the same companies as Corsair's PSUs. Simple rule of thumb for your future reference.

I think it's pretty unfair to make a generalization like this. There are a lot of brands sold at Best Buy including ours and Corsair's that are solid with storied histories and great reputations.

I'd be happy to answer any questions you guys have regarding our products. With regard to the original question - we take a lot of pride in our power supplies as they're one of the key product lines that built our company up. If you were to post the specs of your machine, I could better answer what Antec PSU would be right for you.

    Cheers,

    Jessie

    Yea, but the opposite.
The AX750 are more like the X-750s who don't reach the standards and get slapped on the Corsair AX-logo.
    Saithes list is good.

Avoid any PSUs made by CWT.

What? lol If you do that then you're avoiding a lot of the market. CWT makes amazing power supplies. If anything they're one of the highest rated up with Seasonic and Enhance.

CWT has been making a majority of Corsairs PSU's since... well... forever and they've been high quality since the day they were released. The older TX's were capable of higher output than they were rated for at constant rates.

Errr... Most of the PSUs recommended ON THIS VERY SITE are made by CWT... such as the Corsair 650TX V2... CWT PSUs are exceptional. Plus, Seasonic makes Corsair's AX line, I really don't think that they're Seasonic's X-line rejects as you make them out to be.
