Glyph of Exo or CS?

Given that I'm using the Vicious gloves with 5% CS damage increase, is it currently better to use the Glyph of Crusader Strike or Exorcism?

With 4.0.6 Exorcism was 'fixed' in the way that it calculates it's damage for the DoT from the Glyph. Pre-4.0.6 the glyph DoT was based on base damage for Exo, now it is based on the actual damage for the Exo used - so you get a nice big Exo Crit and then your Ticking DoT will be a bit larger now. Exorcism was better than Crusader strike pre-4.0.6, then they fixed it to calculate the DoT from actual damage and not base damage, and it's still better! Hooray!

Actually you're wrong, CS scales with gear, as you get better gear CS gets better (not to mention it got buffed it 4.0.6) unlike Exo which doesn't scale as you get better gear.

CS (glyph) + HoL will always out dps Exo + exo glyph

Exo definitely scales with gear, just not as much as CS. It's not something we can be concerned about at this tier, though.

I don't know how much Exo has changed since wotlk, Exo goes off of base dmg and from my knowledge it doesn't scale with anything outside of talents unless its based off of AP or Str. Even then CS is based off of weapon dmg and talent's.

As you upgrade you're weapon from oh say

1638 top end dmg
2300 top end dmg
2500 top end dmg
2800 top end dmg

As you can see from a basic stand point CS is one of our most scaling abilities, Exo would have to have some pretty obsurd coefficient from something to scale better than CS.

Every boss fight I've done the dot effect from the Exo glyph is bottom of the barrel of our dmg done abilities, it's nice to see it critting past 2k finally but as it stands CS with HoL just hits like a mack truck to ignore the free crit from the glyph which stacks with our normal crit and the crit we get from talents and at this crit % in cata and extra free 5% crit is worth it if you ask me.

Exorcism is determined by 34% of your attack power.

Furthermore, I'm sure you don't honestly believe your Exo has always hit for the exact same number, regardless of being in green items compared to purple ones.

On the other side, Exo also scale with gear (Exo take ap and spellpower in acount, obviously both scale) AND Exo glyph also scale with gear (the dot is more powerfull as the Exo is more powerfull)

CS scales with gear and mastery (in a sense) as well.

Like to also add CS is our 3rd priority ability behind Inq and 3 hp TV so there will be moments when you have to pass up using Exo if any of those 3 are off CD or in need of refreshing.

It really seems that both glyphs are more viable. The math works out in favor of Exo, but I know I get more CSs in a given boss fight than Exo.

I'll try out the Exo glyoh and see how my parses come out as compared to usual.

With my gear, I get a +209 dps increase on Exo glyph over CS glyph. That's pretty substantial.

Even if I set my weapon DPS to 1000 (which is what we may see in T13 hardmodes or something) and throw 2000 more mastery on my gear in an attempt to favor the CS glyph, Exo still pulls ahead by over 100 dps.

So with current mechanics, don't expect CS glyph to ever outscale Exo.
