So, no more Bejewled add on? : (

PopCap is now a division of Electronic Arts Inc. (EA)! As part of this transition, no earlier than January 2, 2012, PopCap will be merging its product offerings and databases with those of EA. EA's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy will thereafter govern any information you have provided to PopCap. To learn more about how PopCap will be making this transition, how the change will affect you, and to read EA's policies, click here.
An email I received. So EA owns Bioware, Atari owns Blizz, so in other words direct competitors. Are we going to see a decommission of the bejeweled add on??

Considering neither side makes money off of it, you'll be fine. And if for some reason it does there will be a fan update to make it compatible.

pretty much this, there's no way they can stop it even if they tried anyway unless Blizzard disables the addon functionality but that's hardly ever going to happen with anything non game breaking.

Every patch addons 'break' from minor changes, and if the addons themselves are no longer being updated... well. Tough luck.

I wish someone slipped in some more Popcap-styled addons though. they're hella fun.

Something like Bejeweled is very very very unlikely to break unless there is a major change to fundamentals of the language (updating WoW to a new Lua engine which changes function parameters, for example [see deprecation of arg1, arg2 and this a few patches ago]). This is because Bejeweled does not really retrieve any information from the client using the regular APIs, which is what usually causes addons to malfunction when changed.
